Yes, it's a worrying precedent. For now they've used this law for a reason to which most are in agreement, but governments abuse their power, and I can foresee moments when the threat of revoking citizenship in less contentious instances might become a reality.

I hear you. but I think the recent cases where people have been stripped of citizenship have involved people with dual nationalities. There was one of them grooming nonces that they said was going to be deported back to p'stan after he'd done his sentence (he'd just relatively recently been made a citizen from naturalisation). Another British grooming pak who'd run away before he could be sentenced was arrested in p'stan and is awaiting deportation back here to serve their sentence. 

You're right, there is no telling where this will go, and how successive governments might use this to please an increasingly right-wing proletariat or get rid of people who are inconvenient to them. It just boils back to what Deepa, the late Jagraj Singh etc.  have been saying about the system going to try and take liberties where they feel they can, especially with communities who they perceive to have no teeth to bite back when attacked......

I remember when my grandparents used to keep a packed suitcase on top of the cupboard, when i used to ask them why, they would say, roughly translated "we don't know when the white folk might kick us out, it's their country after all", not saying it will happen, but i don't think our grand parents were stupid, they travelled all the way from India and set up in a foreign country, maybe they knew something we don't.

No they didn't, but they always lived with the fear of it, I think that's the point i'm trying to make, the Government, while right in what they are doing, are on very thin ice, look at what they did with the Windrush generation.

How so? Theyre currently in US custody. But are European citizens. US will obviously not take them back. Options are release them, let them sneak into Europe. Or, shoot them before leaving.

Me being the suspicious person I am suspects this to be an intricate plot, their final hurrah: they feign ignorance and innocence in order to escape the consequences of the documented atrocities that the organisation and its supporters have undertaken and supported in various ways. A few years pass, memories fade, the public relaxes. Then out of the blue there's a barrage of co-ordinated attacks launched by these returned individuals. That was their plan all along. To be allowed back into society, weave a tale that suggests they themselves are the victims of brainwashing, etc., while all along waiting for the moment to strike.

How Europeans deal with this issue, politically and socially, will go some way to identifying whether they have a future or not.

Nicole Jack, 34, who was radicalised in a Pizza Hut in West London, is asking to return to the UK from Syria after going over to join ISIS.

She wishes to return to the country with her three children.

The West London jihadi used to live in Shepherds Bush and her first and second husband were both killed, as was her ten year old son.

 

Nicole and her children are being detained at Camp Roj in Syria where relatives of people suspected of belonging to Isis are held.

She claims that she is "not a threat" and should be allowed to return to the UK.

She told BBC News that her family were "out of sight, out of mind" and must not be swept "under the carpet" by Britain.

"I haven't seen a beheading in my life," she said.

However, the Home Office said to the MailOnline today that ISIS 'committed atrocious crimes including butchering and beheading innocent civilians'.

The mother left London to join Isis in Iraq in October 2015. She told her family she was going to Somalia.

She claimed her husband Hussein Ali threatened to break up the family up if she did not travel with him, but he then died the next year fighting for the militant group.

Ms Jack then married another foreign Isis recruit, Adil de Montrichard from Trinidad and Tobago, also known as Adil Roberts.

She then became pregnant with triplets but is said to have miscarried the first child, before the second was stillborn and the third lived for only three weeks.

Six weeks later, Mr de Montrichard was in the garden with Ms Jack's ten-year-old son Isaaq when they both died in a suspected coalition airstrike.

Ms Jack was brought up a Christian but converted to Islam after meeting Mr Ali while they were both working in a Pizza Hut outlet in Hammersmith, West LondonShe doesn't know if she still has British citizenship but will not let her children to go to the UK without her because they would 'not be in a stable situation'.

The children’s grandmother wants them home so they don’t have to suffer in Syria. She also wants Nicole to be allowed to return to the UK to 'face the consequences' in Britain.

Last month former Isis-bride Begum, 22, begged the British public for forgiveness, saying there was 'no evidence' she was a key player in preparing terrorist acts.

She told ITV's Good Morning Britain she would 'rather die than go back to IS' and added: 'The only crime I committed was being dumb enough to join IS.'

The self-proclaimed ISIS 'caliphate' once covered huge parts of Syria and Iraq but lost its last area of territory in March 2019 following a series of defeats.
