I really don't have time for people like Sarbjit "Singh".

This guy spends so much time making videos and professing his love for Sikhi and concern about Sikh issues.  And yet, he is so embarrassed to be a Sikh that he goes out of his way on a regular basis to remove his beard and hair so that he can avoid looking like a Sikh.

Why should I take anything this guy has to say seriously?

Why should I care about what a Sikh who is embarrassed about being a Sikh has to say?

If he cares so much about the Sikh religion and Sikh community, why does he opt to look like a Hindu/Muslim/Christian/Atheist/Whatever rather than look like a Sikh?  He would literally have to do NOTHING.  How much can he possible care if he can't even do something that simply requires doing NOTHING?  (Letting your kesh grow out requires zero work.  On the other hand, removing kesh requires work.)

He is a pathetic coward.

People like him make me sick, and the fact that there are so many like him illustrates why today's Sikh community is so pathetic.

Well said bro. He being pathetic doesn't make the wider Sikh community pathetic though.

I understand your point. I feel the same when I see some clearly weak-willed, dorking looking kesh-dhari/amritdhari bloke. It's like they've totally ignored all hukams to be tyar-bar-tyar and physically active and hide behind their physical appearance. The worse one is when I get on the tube in the early mornings when very few nonwhites are about, and some dorky looking keshdhari bloke goes from looking nervous and ill at ease to ecstatic now that he isn't alone in the train carriage. And these guys are trying to be the modern incarnations of warrior Singhs of the past......yeh sure. ....

In anycase, so I take it you think the presenter was some sort of muppet for interviewing this guy, despite the presenter and his organisation doing more to save vulnerable members of our community, and actually taking risks in confronting the establishment here than I would imagine 2000 people like yourselves could ever do even collectively?

Anyone from the UK have an opinion?

If a mona can do this amount, imagine what a keshdari or amritdhari could do.

At least he is taking action.

Haters are going to hate regardless, can't stand this crab mentality amongst our people.

I think people in the UK are getting more and more clued up. Those previous posts in the thread were from a US SIkh and one from NZ. God knows where their heads are at?

Other than his appearance did you have a problem with what he said?

Hes speaking about social issues happening currently in the Sikh Community in western countries. Maybe if he had Gursikhs like Sant Jarnail Singh ji Khalsa Bhindranwale around him.  he would become a Sikh by keeping hair uncut.  I dont think hes against the Sikhi saroop like the poster @dallysingh101.  Dallysingh101 takes any opportunity to slander the Sikh saroop.  So in this sense this poster is a sheep but talking large on forum for 3 decades but has not done anything.

UK Sikhs are the most established diaspora community. Overall we are probably more balanced in our thinking.

The diaspora in other countries are more fresh off the boat and they think more in extremes. It will take them a few decades to catch up.

Did it ever occur to you and anyone else with this mindset that maybe the person in question just isn't ready to commit fully to Sikhi and he's showing his love for it by doing what he's doing.

Your professing your love of Sikhi by tearing down others and judging them because they don't meet your idea or exacting standard of what you think Sikhi means.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
