Questions about Sikh religion

Secondly, you gave no context for what it is you are quoting. People posted above that Jesus is mentioned nowhere in the Sikh scriptures, so it would be quite confusing to read what you wrote below.

For anyone who doesn't know, the quote is from a biography of the late saint Harnam Singh, a saint of the last half of the 20th century written by his successor.

Finally the quote does not say that Jesus follows Guru Sahib's path, it merely claims that Jesus wants his followers to follow the Guru's path.

I was actually about to write out a reply to that particular post (even typed it out) but I refrained from doing so because I thought he's probably someone really young and going to take it personally but the whole post was very childlike, defensive and was an unnecessary contribution. 

More importantly like you mentioned it's a biography written by his successor - although a very inspirational read (SeKinehya) it is not scripture or Sikh history. 

It's a shame people are unable to have a healthy dialog with people asking questions about the Sikh faith, perhaps the lady who opened the topic will be able to appreciate that on this forum anyone can come and write a post and that if she wants a more clear answer she is better off discussing the religion with people in real life that are more educated and representative of Sikhi and therefore are somewhat qualified to answer questions.

That is very helpful. This is i think the story that confused my source to lead her to think the devil had tempted the Guru.

Indeed that story is startling and important. Was it written in your Holy Book? 

As a Christian i believe 100% in what The Bible says. All other books are the authors own conjectures usually.  I know that true Sikhs will also only go only by their own Holy Scriptures. So do refer me to your actual source please.

there are mentions of Christianity in SGGS, isn't it? "KATEB" means the people of Book. or maybe you are only talking abt, Jesus.

That is great Christiangirl. As Sikhs we only teach our faith to those that would like to learn. We do not preach to try and make someone leave their own religion and join ours. Sikhs believe all faiths can lead to God if you practice your faith properly and with a sincere heart. 

I have actually been to a church a few times and have admired the sermons and talks.

That's great. We recommend that you should follow your faith with a full heart every day. And you can take these 3 teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji Maharaaj to help you further.

1st teaching 

Naam Japo - which means recite the name of God and sing his praises as much as possible with a full heart. Guru Sahib has told us that when you pray and love God with a pure heart you are able to experience God (on the top of your head specifically, at a centre called Dasam Duaar - the tenth door) and you will feel bliss.

2nd teaching 

Kirat Karo - Earn an honest living. Work hard and earn money, that's great. But don't have greed for money and always work honestly. No lies, stealing etc. And also be grateful for what you God gives you.

3rd teaching

Vand Ke Chhako - Share before you consume. This means before you eat or spend money, share with others. Give to charity out of love for you neighbour and spread the love of God with everyone. 

If you can adopt these three teaching (there are many more, but these 3 teachings will help a lot), staying away from sins and vices like Lust, Anger, Greed, Attachment and Pride and your life will be successful.

That is so good. I think it is incredibly useful to go and experience another faith. I am of an Anglican church and our services are very straightforward. Our head as yoy know is Queen Elizabeth. All teaching bible based. I am proud to ne a christian as you all are to be Sikh and we can learn from each other.
