The 200 year old darshan deori at tarn taran sahib is getting demolished by kar sewa babas. That's another bit of our heritage going    gone ...

Huh?

The article says sangat told the sevaks to stop, but they said they will do anything "Baba ji" tells them to do.

Stupid beyond belief.

Sangat clearly don't want the ithiaask buildings demolished but the sewaks said they will demolish it because that what their kar sewa baba told them to do.

Absolutely pathetic.

This baba is probably gnna get his name plastered on the sign board for his "sewa"

The sewaks and this baba clearly went against the sangat wishes,  waheguru will judge the rest.

Our historical buildings are a part of our ithiaas, demolishing them is demolishing part of our ithiaas.

I think tarn taran sahib gurdwara was constructed during the sikh empire, if they demolishing the darshan deori now then They will start demolishing the gurdwara.

Most of our ithiaask buildings have actually been demolished in the name of kar sewa.

Kar sewa should be carried out differently when it comes to historical buildings.

The definition of kar sewa of old buildings should be renovating them not demolishing them and replacing it with a ugly marble building

Article says that they tried demolishing it during the day but sangat didn't let them so they gnna do it at night.

The person carrying it out is called kar sewa baba jagtar singh.

Going against sangats wishes never ends well ...

There's videos of the Baba on YouTube. From what I can tell he seems to be doing a fair bit of good for poor Sikhs without access to expensive healthcare. Perhaps he's being poorly advised (or not at all) on the issue of preserving historical buildings. It seems unless something is explicitly religious or spiritual in origin, the darn thing is coming tumbling down because Baba Ji ordered it so, lol.

What use is your intellect and articulate posts here, if you can't do something for them in real life ??

I fear why they do this. Could it be these "car sewaks" couldn't give a rats a** about future of sikhi and our heritage but are only concerned about filling their own pockets. Could it be all this "development" is just a facade to attract "sikh sangat" to visit the shrines and thus collect more donations to fill their own hungry pockets. IF SO, then isn't it prerogative of sangat too that we should make it loudly obvious that we would prefer visiting a historical broken gurudwara over a plastered white marble one,

that we would prefer the ruins of the wall in which sahibzade were bricked alive rather than getting the wall out and a golden palki kept in that place. Sikhs are in some deep mess and we collectively don't even realize it

Really sad that they’re doing this. What is the purpose of it all? Is it all funded by donations or are people being paid to demolish and rebuild, just so money can be moved around?

I agree with comments about renovation but you need people who are specialists in this area.

I think kar sewa is just filling their pockets, their gnna demolish the old structure but how much of the donations that they collected are they actually gnna use on the new structure?

And how is demolishing something and replacing it with another building kar sewa?  Thats just demolishing and replacing!  I thought kar sewa would be repairing.

Why can they not just restore it? That is also Kar Seva.

If these Babas really want their name on the building and want $$$ in their pocket, restoring Historical buildings still gives them the same outcome. What incentive to they have to destroy it?

There has to some agenda to destroy our heritage.

They probably don't even know such a thing is possible. It's just about bulldozing it down, erecting something in its place, and receiving the plaudits thereafter. There's no love or grace or nurturing involved. And these people are meant to lead us to a brighter future? What a crock of bakwaas. Clueless. Absolutely clueless.

With the money, knowledge, and connections SGPC has, they should be hiring experts to preserve these buildings and solidify them for the coming centuries.

SGPC had to bring international scientists to make sure the Dukh Bhanjani Beri didn't DIE at Sri Darbar Sahib due to the Marble around it (which was put by Kar Seva Babas), the tree roots couldn't get enough nutrients. Why SGPC can't do the same with buildings baffles me.

There are also many other Historical trees in other gurdwaras that are either dead or dying, but no one cares as they aren't popular gurdwaras like Sri Darbar Sahib.

I think the thinking is that massive, imposing buildings impress and bring in more visitors and thus are a good thing compared to smaller, older structures.

    • thank you MisterrSingh, dhanvadji- I agree with you- the true jew population is at least 200 million according to an Austrian acquaintance of mine - jews r desperate to increase territory of israel - how many people r aware that for around four centuries jews were abducting and abusing european girls -  similar to today's muslim migrants attacking indigenous europeans - kosher-halal criminal practices include animal torture, circumcision, and vicious exclusionary ingroup outgroup politics: the umma vs the chosen people plus their predilection for inbreeding is all deplorable and really ought to be criminalized by law. Fortunately Germany has put an end to the crime of circumcision and German state events are all fully vegetarian. jihadists and their mujahadin mobs from the world over are responsible for destruction of genetic ethnic and cultural integrity of large parts of Greater Historical Agenda. I understand full well the nefarious intentions of certain fake hindus but the desert creeds are infinitely more destructive  - all of them are liars- their esoteric texts discuss reincarnation yet they pretend to not understand phenomenon of rebirth - they are desperate for global power - bahai cult is the worst of all -These abrahamic deviants are a plague upon the planet. apologies for not having perfect punctuation, uppercase etc and disjointed sentences but i'm not a fan of english anymore - during Maharaja Ranjit Singh's time, Persian remained the official language - I really like the sound of Persian over English. I look forward to Iran freeing herself from the shackles of Mohamadanism.
    • Appreciate context, brother. There's a time and a place for the issues you've highlighted. You know I've participated in those discussions, and 99% of the time we share the same opinions on those issues. This particular topic is clearly focused on Judeo-Christian subjects, and by me not referring to Hinduism in this instance and context makes sense. It's irrelevant to what was being discussed. That doesn't mean I'm undercover RSS, lol.
    • I laughed so hard at ur rant. Thanks.
    • What do Hindus have to do with those of us living in the West who encounter the affects of the existence and various systems of practice relating to Jews, Christians, and Muslims? Of what concern are Hindus to the OP who started this thread as it relates to their influence in spreading their respective doctrines in Hyde Park? Your deviousness and hostility is interesting to note, particularly as I've been unequivocally vocal in my criticism of the Hindu community and their malign influence on our history on many, many occasions, and yet you give the impression that by focusing on the Semetic 3 I'm apparently giving a pass to Hindus on this occasion? I'm not going to drag that group into every discussion to make you happy just because you have an axe to grind with them on a personal basis. It's not my problem you've been targeted by them in the past. Maybe you don't know how to behave around people which is why they don't like you? You're pi55ing me off and I'm not a Hindu. Am I suddenly Gangu reborn? 😂 India is NOT the world. Hinduism is not the sole root of problems that plague those of us living in the West. Get this through your head. You've reached a conclusion I wasn't even thinking of. This topic is focused on the big 3 religions of the desert. As a person living in the West, I'm exposed to the followers and the teachings of these religions on a daily basis. The every day culture of which I unwittingly participate has been formed in large part by the contributions of these three religions.  I have every right to draw attention to the malign influences of these people on our lives. The fact that you choose to obscure this message by dragging the Hindus into an unrelated discussion is telling of your frame of mind. Like I said to you previously, if you don't know how to conduct yourself around men, just don't reply to me with your nonsense. I've been very tolerable of you in the past, but you are pushing your luck. Behave yourself before I get personal again. Before you engage in discussion with me, think before sending submit. I don't want to be exposed to your foolishness.
    • Yeah I n high school and everyone had a drink from the same chalice, wine representing Jesus's  blood etc etc.
