How comes these guys were still using the true Khalsa standard at this time? How did the community come to universally accept the modern version over this?

Did goray do the standard flag change thing they do in places they've conquered?

All our standards, Saroops, pothian  and weapons which lived in homes in villages and towns were grabbed by angrez but of course tat khalsa would have held tight to their ones and hidden them to prevent theft and beadbhi so those folks would have refused to comply with angrez in fact there was a policy to accept candidates from certain districts of Punjab who were strong in Ankh like that .

the above were on a morcha against hindu mahants ... looks like the pics from jaito not fauji one which has no standards just Guru ji and soldiers.  frankly Gorey banned such aware gursikhs from entry to army/police

Yeah, again it is VERY informative that these guys still retained the original Khalsa standard. So they were aware of the political and religious connotations of this even though they had been colonised. It's practically a rejection of the new identity that had been foisted on them through a reminder of the recent independent Sikh past.

Well, if it is her, see this as a great opportunity to sit with her and listen to her stories. Let her tell you about the struggles, the strikes, the disputes and the hardships they went through just so you and I could have equal rights and pay. It will be a priviledge for you to listen just as it would be a joy for her to tell.
