How should Sikhism deal with the upcoming potential of lab grown meat?

Would it be fine to eat this meat as it does not involve killing an animal?

Would it not be fine as to grow this meat there was once a requirement for animal cells?

Would this be an issue that the Akal Takht would have to deal with?

Would love to hear your thoughts.

The Akal Takhat, in one sense, does not ban meat, only halal meat.

You can argue against this, but for the sake of Panthic unity, this is generally considered the case.

This does not mean you should eat meat, however. All the organizations that favor bhagti (sant babas, Taksal, AKJ, etc.) favor refraining from meat.

So, if you were eating meat before, this is no different.

If you weren't, then you'd probably want to desist.

The reason is simply that vegetarians in the Sikh/Indian context view meat as Taamsik (creates negativity). It's not merely that meat is obtained by killing a jeev. It's also taamsik.

Those who eat the remains of a violent death - slabs of animals-  are coarse, mean creatures and are, in the words of Schopenhauer 'living graveyards'.

But that is the point. Meat grown in the lab is not from a violent death.

But personally, the composition of meat is very high protein and fat. So i think that has an affect on the body

according to ayurveda, its tamasic which causes ignorance and laziness in our mind and body

also eating any living form thats lower than human may have bad karam so that can only affect our spirituality negatively

Maharaaj has said where will the Naam sit. The only reason one choses to meat is for the taste. And even if the grew it in a lab, it's still going to take so many resources. How many more people are going to have to be exploited and feel hungry for some artificial meat?

Also, these heavy foods aren't digested as quickly as Daal etc. So how are Sikhs going to be able to wake up at Amrit Vela. We can't be eating meat for the taste of the tongue.

Siane Gurmukh Pyare will have more to say.

And by the way, Daal is tasty too.
