Sikh History

There is alot of controversy surrounding the amount of evidence we have for our history such as the encounters between our Gurus and the Mughals. Do we have any proof of these encounters such as the Gurus being tortured by the Mughals upon Aurangzebs request. Obviously as a Sikh i believe it but the claims that the history may have been altered along the way due to over exaggeration may be valid too if there is a lack of evidence.

Have you ready any sikh history books? if you did, can you name some here?

First of all, we don't need any validation from anybody. If they don't want to believe our history, that's their problem, not ours.

Secondly, if you're weak and wavering and find a need for validation from non-Sikhs, there are European and Muslim sources regarding Sikh history. For one, the Emperor Jahangir himself mentions in his autobiography that he wants to put an end the "shop" being run by Guru Arjun Dev ji in which gullible Muslims are becoming Sikhs.

Given that the penalty for leaving Islam is death, what do you think the penalty was supposed to be for encouraging huge numbers of people to leave Islam?

There was also a European traveler (forgot his name) who witnessed and mentioned Guru Sahib's shaheedi.
