What is Sikh view of Karma. Are we punished for our sins in this life?

My understanding has been this: some sins from previous lives may be repaid in this life; some sins in this life are repaid in this life; some sins in this life are repaid in future lives. 

Doing seva and simran burns away these sins or lessens their impact. Much like the story of the two Sikhs, one who found a gold coin and the other injured by a thorn.

is there any difference in sikh concept of karam as opposed to the concept in other dharmic religions

Seva is misunderstood also, you are supposed to do Wahegurus seva, meaning spreading Sikhi, not serving other people , which is good also, but if you talk about burning away sins it Waheguru seva that you need to do.

From personal experience, it is possible u sin in the morning and Karma comes biting you before nightfall, same day! I strongly believe it happened to me on 1st September 2010. TRUST! You don't forget dates like that! Of course there is the good ol' rational explanation... But my heart??? I know it deep down.

Japji Sahib states "Aape beech, aape he kaho." So bad things happen to us for past / this life reasons, no matter how good / careful we been. Yes Naam Jap will erase / reduce the price of Karma, BUT do not make Naam Jap into a license to eradicate your sinful doings. Don't work that way.

I reckon the speed between cause and effect increases as our load is lightened , so those who have done bhagti immensely burn off the old stuff and are left with the more recent things until we zero out and get into positive  position

Just do Waheguru simran it will burn everything away and save your family also, this is said by Guru Gobind Singh Ji

So if something bad happens to us in this life we may be being punished by karma? ie we did bad acts in this life so we are now being punished for them. Then how to get a clean slate? By doing goods deeds. 

Ie our current health, wealth problems could be caused sins we committed early in life. Then why does bad things happen to good people wh have hardly sinned?

Karma isn't a reward for good, punish for bad system. It's the perfect lesson, based on our past thoughts and actions, according to the Kirpa of the Timless One. For example one may be blessed with great suffering to bring them closer to Guru Ji and saved from things they thought they wanted. Much like in the final pages of the Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
