westernized sikhs from urban cities in india are very embarrassing and effeminate! they wouldn't last a week in Punjab. these daler mendi types have made Sikhs look like absolute clowns. Even in Punjab people are embarrassed by the daler mehndi types and take the p1ss out of them     his music flopped in Punjab    if this param guy walked into punjab dressed like that he would get called a kusra

I guess they take this clownish image to entertain the mass indians who want to laugh at sikhs clowning about on stage. most people in india dont like sikh men with a more dominant image they prefer these clowns.

heres another urban westernized Sikh man probably from delhi or mumbai

How comes this fudhus mum and dad don't say anything to him?

shocking isn't it?  worse thing is that he says every sardar he comes across supports this bakwaas

Punjab is culturally corrupt but i know for sh1t that this would never be accepted there!

Another spaz .  who the hell calls their cooking show "turban tadka"    a lot of these Sikhs outside of Punjab behave in this clownish behavior to entertain Indians.   I change the channel whenever i see him on tv

Nah man. I like this guy. He's not remotely in the same bracket as the belly dancing fairy.

I've done a good few recipes from this guy over the years. I ain't seen much that is cringeworthy. Okay, he very occasionally does this minorly silly 'namak namak' dance thing when he adds salt to the recipes, but even that isn't that bad compared to pics posted previously here.

I didn't know he was on TV, I thought it was just Youtube. Maybe he's worse on TV?

Delar Mandi is on a next level though. His grinning bootha alone is offensive.

If the stuff coming out about gender birthrate discrepancies in the community is true, be that through selective abortions

Yes because of the anti-Sikh imbalance of male versus female in Punjab plus NRI grooms finding wives from back in Punjab further reducing the number of Sikh women available there is a high percentage of unmarried male Sikhs (especially Amritdhari) in their 30's in Punjab nowadays.

And on the other hand we have about at least 20% of Sikh guys in the West marrying goriyah and other races and I'd guess about 15% going back to Punjab to find a wife so right from the get go it means that about 35% of Sikh women born in the West cannot find a Sikh partner and are getting to their 30's unmarried.

Fair enough some 10% of women might end up with goreh due to working in all white environments but now even those are being driven away from the community by Anand Karaj protests.

But at least 25% of Sikh women are being left unmarried to their thirties due to Sikh guys marrying goryah so much (at least twice as many as women the other way round). And yet it's women that are always blamed when it's Sikh men who are the main problem chasing after goriyah as backed up my census statistics!

No disrespect to the Amritdhari Singhs with gori wives like Bhai Jugraj Singh etc

It's not as simple as that.

Our own culture, with its hypergamy, doesn't help. Families are frequently the biggest obstacle when apnay want to marry an apnee. Plus a certain section of apneean don't help either. They haven't exactly made a great name for themselves (not all though - there are still plenty of decent apneean out there).

This isn't a simple matter of patriarchy. There is plenty of blame to go around, and apneean can't play the innocent victim card. Some of them are so gullible that they keep getting caught out in the most horrendous of situations with poor choices like falling into grooming and prostitution (or just generally living a completely Godless life). This pretty much compels some apnay to look outside. I don't have a problem with that as long as they try and preserve their heritage with their kids. Like I said, given circumstances, whether we like it or not, a certain degree of this is inevitably going to happen.

There is nothing wrong with mixed marriages (which seem inevitable anyway) if the children are connected to Sikhi - like Bhai Jagraj Singh (and others) have done.  Really (from what I can gather) a lot of people seem more concerned with preserving some notion of racial identity (which is usually just a cover for their caste pride) over Sikhi anyway. And if we are going to grow and spread as a community,, we'd better get used to, and be ready to deal with children of such unions. Which we can do infinitely better than we do now.

People in the UK have got good reason for objecting to these 'Anand Karaaj's'. Those of us who are clued up at ground level know exactly why. It does get abused by people who are essentially indifferent to their heritage but strangely still want a traditional Sikh ceremony on top of the other one - presumably for a photo opportunity? Then there are people from other communities who are determined to try and undermine the community via females. We can't be oblivious to this.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
