What is the point of this thread?

99.9% of "Sikh" girls have haircuts. What do you expect they are going to dress like?

If you demand that "Sikh" girls who are active in Sikh societies dress like your grandmother, then each Sikh society will dwindle down to a small group of singhs (maybe one or two token kaurs).

It will be a lot like this message board: very few people on here, very little activity, 90% or more male

The thread made you come out after a long time.  So surely the thread has a point.

The quoted shabad in the above post is for those who have respect for their Guru.  Teaching is what Gurbani does and sikh societys are run to spread Gurbani and bring more people to Sikhi.  Those running the society at least need to follow the minimum requirements.   Showing legs and chest is not respectable by Sikhi standards.

It's been a long time since I came out because these message boards are dead. There is very little activity.

Anyway, if you insist on people following such minimal requirements, the Sikh societies will dwindle down to like 2-3 people and will then cease to exist for a lack of people.

Whenever Gurbani is presented that shows the light on the topic.  People like you show up and try to play the number game.  Well Sikhi has not left this earth after you people tried to scare Sikhs with the number game.  Sikh societies will stay as well.

Thanks to poster @puzzled  for presenting this shabad that wearing of revealing clothing is wrong by Gurbani standards.

I hope after this shabad, you @Sat1 are content with Gurbani.

Goodness. It also says that man can shave his head or have his hair unshaved, it makes no difference. Grow up and stop being so shallow and understand that your outer appearance doesn’t mean or make you shite. It’s the internal that matters. All truly spiritual people know that.

That passage is telling you that Clothes do not matter, they don’t go with you in the end whether you’re fully covered or not. You understand what suits you and twist gurbani to your own needs as so many in the world do.

Gurbani doesn’t change just because you twist it. Truth is Truth. We come alone with Nothing, we go with Nothing. No clothes, no money, no human body, no nothing. Just the immaterial Soul.

Get your own house in order first and let others walk their own path without trying to control. Control yourself first.

Making up false stories about Gurbani is very disrespectful.

Gurbani says those who wear clothes thin as air/wind are fools.  So your philosophy is wrong and not Gurbani.

Did you not read the part about clothes not going with you in the end and being burned to ashes. The same goes for all clothes including burkas and full length clothing as you dictate, as well as the human body shell. Symbolism that nothing goes with us. It’s the Soul that goes forth. Hence, the internal purity that matters.

This is why you can't understand Gurbani.  You make up stuff in your head and say it is Gurbani.  Guru Sahib said those who wear clothing thin as air are fools.  Guru sahib described the type of clothing he is talking about.  To twist Guru sahib words is disrespectful. Guru Sahib is saying to those who wear clothing thin as air, their clothing will not go along with them, so don't be so arrogant to believe your clothing are special.  Those who wear respectable clothing by Sikhi standards do it to follow their Guru.  They are not arrogantly wearing those clothes as those who proud themselves of wearing thin clothes to show case their bodies.

Also you are having a hard time understanding the shabad by bhagat kabir ji, which speaks of shaven heads and long hair.  Someone else or myself can help you understand it better.  Let me know if you want help.

You are taking this discussion personally and swearing.

Read the passage I posted about totally covering yourself. You really need to evolve spiritually and stop being shallow. I’ve read the entire Granth sahib several times. Time and time again, it says that we take nothing with us. About internal purity regardless of your external state. But fanatics like you put a Muslim And sexist twist on it.

I’m nit taking it personally. Your ignorance and sexist views, disrespect for women, and beliefs just baffle me.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
