Amritsar is around 2 and a half hour away from nawanshahr which isn't that bad   from Delhi it takes over 8hrs ! thats the worst journey ever! first 8hrs in the plane and then another 8hrs in the car  thats crazy haha!  cnt believe iv put myself through that torture HAHA

some people from Malwa say that Delhi is quicker for them while amritsar is too far.

One yr when we went india and landed in delhi at dawn i told my mum i wanna see some sites and gurdware at delhi   my mum and sister weren't happy about that as we just got off a 8hr flight  but i forced them to listen lol    so we saw Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib and Gurdwara Bangla Sahib and then we saw qutb minar and hamyuns tomb lol  by the end of it my mum and sister nearly fainted out of exhaustion haha! i had to hold my mums arm while walking back to the car       yh that was a bad idea lol

humayuns maqbara tomb was beautiful but then you remember it was indians slaves who built it   mughal monuments are a symbol of indian slavery and how our people were enslaved.  all those tombs were built by indian slaves.   appreciate the beauty and art but remember it was poor slaves that built them.

It's best to travel by train usually as it's a great way to see the country going through countryside and different landscape, villages and cities. Also you get to meet the locals and have adventure on train.

Plane is probably good for something like Delhi to Mumbai. Long haul and overnight journeys.  if your not well enough to handle the train for 18 hours can get a bit rough. But the trains have now improved you can get ac sleeper trains.

Direct flights due to start from Stansted in 4 weeks with air India and having down some searchesr found it to be 250.00 cheaper per person than from Birmingham.

Also a low Cost air carrrier called Flypop is looking to start direct flights Stansted to Amritsar.

is Flypop safe?

Safe, highly likely. They wouldn't be allowed to operate in the UK if their safety standards were not up to scratch.

Comfortable, who knows. A whole other issue lol.

Personally I think stop-over journeys are better if the overall flight is better.
