Maya Vatnaa?

To the brave Singh's and Kaur's,

My first question is that i've gone to many weddings and never understood the relevance of a "maya vatna" or "mayan". They sing songs and apply haldi or whatever to the skin but isn't maya a sin, so <banned word filter activated> are they doing?

My second question is often I hear at akand paaths and weddings that this person did "dus pound haajare kithee" forgive my spelling. But whats the point in announcing how much someone has donated? Is it a competition? are they trying to buy their way into such kand? I just don't understand

Lol it's just an old harmless tradition  no harm in it.  haldi is beneficial actually   .people in india have been using it for 1000 of yrs. Goreh have only started using it now 

What I dont like is stupidity like alcohol and shameless behaviour that is exhibited at these weddings now days

vatna is made of haldi,  saron da tel and besan , it is applied and then washed off , it is nothing more than a face/skin mask to prevent breakouts and lighten dark skin . No bajjar kurehit if done simply without scrubbing and rubbing .

maiyaan is not about maya but mai   as in mother's  , it is the nanake side preparing both parties to the marriage , usually the females of the nanake do the honours .

as for Ardasia announcing amounts and donators this action actually negates the act of daan as it takes it out of the realm of nishkam sewa into feeding ahankar and haumai . Waheguru ji is jaani jaan , here there is no need for announcement of who is doing the ardas , for what purpose , and asking for material things is futile as Guru ji has told us in Gurbani that path leads to nothing, however if you ask for naam and the simran/remberance you get the things you need

just let the traditional non-chemical preserved onto your skin rather than the cr4p above as that has loads of petrochemicals, oestrogen mimicking substances in them , if you can eat it its safe on your skin as your skin absorbs stuff .
