Is a shower required again after going #2 before sitting in maharaj’s room with a Gutka to do path?

I thought if we have love for our guru like a child would with a father then having to shower again wouldn’t have to be a requirement especially if you’ve cleaned yourself and changed clothes and everything? Isn’t just one ishnaan necessary to sit and do paath next to your guru?

I'm no expert but heres my view , obviously cleanliness is important , but the our aim is to clean our inside by doing path with love . So our mind does not wander , focus on the Lord at all times. Dr Vir singh in his book Guru Nanak Chamatkar , mentions Sri Guru Nank Dev Ji , did his worldy chores and recitation of the Lords name side by side. So we should aim to do this , and key focus on love for the Lord. It mentioned as we have love for our children , our wife /husband , like the magnet attracts to iron , Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj had much much more love for the Lord. Based on this our aim should be recite Gurbani so it hits our heart and love for the Lord is ignited.

So based on this , and your spiritual level you would automatically react accordingly based on how you see Gurbani , the shabad.

Please do take a quick shower again. It only takes 5-10 min. If you have already taken a shower in the morning, then the next shower can be very brief with focus on pelvic area, face, hands, feet and armpits.

Just to inspire you. Daas knew a Hajoori Nanaksari Ragi. He said that at times he had to take a shower four(4) times in a day as hygiene protocols are very strict when it comes to Nanaksar Maryada.

Base your decision using Gurbani, it says:

ਦੇਹੀ ਧੋਇ  ਉਤਰੈ ਮੈਲੁ

By merely washing the body, one's filth is not removed.

and

ਵਸਤ੍ਰ ਪਖਾਲਿ ਪਖਾਲੇ ਕਾਇਆ ਆਪੇ ਸੰਜਮਿ ਹੋਵੈ

They wash their clothes, and scrub their bodies, and try to practice self-discipline.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਲਗੀ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਣੈ ਬਾਹਰਹੁ ਮਲਿ ਮਲਿ ਧੋਵੈ

But they are not aware of the filth staining their inner being, while they try and try to wash off the outer dirt.

Yes, you are right ji. But then again that does mean that we start living like habshi with jattavan etc. Guru Sahib jee told us to keep our body pure - keep it clean. One of our kakkar is comb to keep our hair neat and clean 24/7.

General rule that most Singhs will tell you:

1) If just a gutka sahib, you have to have showered that day.

2) If sitting in tabia of Guru ji, and you did #2, you need to have showered again.

Also, I think you're fooling yourself if with your line that if you're like a child you don't need to shower. I think you might want to flatter yourself that you're like a child, but face it, none of us is. All of us are filled to the brim with envy, hatred, anger, etc. and then we fool ourselves that were are just naive children.

Hunji Singh Ji, I agree, keep the body clean, be respectful towards to Gurbani, Gutka Sahib, especially when sitting in Maharaj's hazuri. However, what really needs to be washed is on the inside. May we all never forget that.

Bilkuj ji. Inside clean is the ultimate goal for all Sikhs.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
