I have heard that at AKJ Amrit Sanchaars if someone goes for pesh they blacken their face and take them in front of Sangat and make them confess their sin. Is this true? Never of heard of anyone else doing this, so is it an AKJ thing? Or just some bs?

funny I've been to many Raeshabhais and AKJ programs from my youth and have never seen anything like this , please stop spreading unfounded stuff and go pesh if you need , the interview with Panj piare is where you will discuss your problem , that's all.

From what I have heard from Singhs, in 18th and early 19th century, if some singh broke his amrit (i.e. did a bajjar kurehit), his face was blackened and he was taken before the sangat and after this he was given amrit again.

In dal panth (sikh army)the punishment was even more severe for someone who broke his amrit. The person was beaten severely by fellow Singhs. After the beating, his wounds were taken care of and he was given amrit again.

this used to happen in Punjab until recent times. Its a punishment that was used throughout the subcontinent, they used to blacken the face and sometimes make them sit on a donkey. Even mughals adopted this on captured warriors etc    maybe in some backwards parts of india they still do this.    Putting shoes around the neck, parading them around on a old worn out animal, blackening the face with tar etc    it was used to dishonor the person.

not sure if it was ever used by Sikhs to punish other Sikhs though    but it was definitely used on adulterers, fornicators etc

You ever heard aunties talking about a s1ut and saying how she "muh kala karliya"  lol

I have never seen it happen, but when my mom went to receive Amrit for the first time, she mentioned she witnessed this happen to someone.
