Don't call yourself a Sikh if you eat meat.

"associated with a veggie jathebandi"? You mean Guru Hargobind ji was a member of ... Nanaksar?

Seriously, though, are you stating that someone forged a hukumnama?

It wasn't nanaksar, it's a less sampradaic and more extreme jathebandi. I have read somewhere online quite recently that the founder of the unmentioned jathebandi may have forged it.

They are speaking to people living in cities who have no need to eat meat, and even if they did eat it, they'd be buying halal. They are certainly not going to be crying "Sat Sri Akal!" doing jhatka with a 3 ft kirpan!

You do agree that Sikhs should not eat store-bought meat, right bro?

I agree, and I don't even think sehajdhari sikhs should eat kutha (halal).

But it's the constant bashing of non-veggie sikhs which hasn't allowed rehit of jhatka and shikkar to flourish. It's such a shame that even in Punjab it's not practised enough. During pre-partition times, Singhs were too scared to do jhatka openly because of islamic extremism in Punjab, but at least they did still the jhatka indoors behind closed doors. In those times, the veggie jathebandis hadn't influenced as many sikhs in going against rehit. Now what is happening is just a shame, khulla and kutha maas being eaten everywhere. And wedding parties have just gotten out of control - just a waste of time and money!

From what I understand from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, it’s a grey area. From what I have read, Ang 1289-1290 Guru Nanak Dev Ji ridicules those with their priorities mixed up - they fight over not eating meat but do not spend their time  remembering waheguru. Finally concluding that eating meat or veg is the same as they are living beings and basic ingredient is water. I believe guru ji is stating focus on yourself and remember waheguru.

I am a vegetarian. It agrees with me. But in this age, it’s very difficult to be pure veg with all these hidden ingredients.

Forgive me if I didn’t grasp the meaning and lesson behind this message.
