Amritsar: Support for Sikh youth who vandalised statues on Heritage Street here, further swelled on Friday as Shiromani Ragi Sabha, which comprises ‘kirtanias’ (hymn singers) of the Golden Temple, justified the act and demanded cancellation of cases registered against them. various committees had staged a protest against the installation of statues and registration of FIRs against the the Sikh youth. Balbir Singh Muchhal of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee said the administration should remove the statues and instead erect statues depicting the valour of Sikh gurus and warriors, youth who visit Sri Harmandir Sahib, were inspired by their teachings and lives.

See what I mean about subtly pushing certain aspects of clownish, barn-darning culture as if it is synonymous with Sikhs. 

It's actually heart warming to read that some people back home have rightly rejected and objected to this.
