I was just talking to a very Good Gursikh about this very issue today. I told him about my perspective of how I don't agree with the way Ravi Singh is running Khalsa Aid.

He told me that we should not pull down Ravi Singh. According to this Singh, because of Ravi Singh the Sikhs have gained much positive coverage in the Islamic world and in the western world. This he says is "soft power" which will come in handy in future when the fight for Khalistan will restart. He says soft power is just as important as hard power.

This Singh further said nothing annoys the Indian government/Hindus more than when Sikhs help Muslims. This Singh even claimed that the Indian government is now using it's  propaganda to discredit Ravi Singh among Sikhs and finish what positive influence Sikhs have gained.  I just thought it was an interesting perspective. This Singh saw this matter from a geo political perspective.

I think people who don't like Khalsa Aid's brand or style of sewa should make their own organisation and set the right example for Khalsa Aid to follow. Gurpreet California Singh seems very arrogant to me personally going by his speech, and the fact that he's addressing Ravi Singh as if he's talking about a school boy. I'd be happy if he can set the right example and eat into Khalsa Aid's share of donation even, because he's focussing on Punjabi/Kharkoo families.

If one wants to do sewa for somebody, they should do it themselves. Why would you expect someone else to change their sewa/working as per your wish, while you sit on your bum doing nukhtachini? It's simple really.

I agree with this, I've got no idea who Gurpreet California Singh is but one thing i do know, every time someone from our community get's into a position of fame/power/influence in whatever shape or form our expectations from them turn into you have to do for us, this is evident across the board, when Tan Singh Dhesi was elected as an MP for Slough he was criticised by loads of people from the Sikh community for not doing enough for Sikhs, you had Singh's from all over the UK slating him when he said his responsibility is to the people of Slough who elected him (it doesn't mean he doesn't raise issues relating to Sikhs, he does).

We, as a community, are our own worst enemies, if all you want to do with your charity is help families in Punjab, help them, there are lots of people that need help in the world, focus on what you think is important. If you feel Khalsa Aid doesn't match up to your point of view, don't donate to them, simple as.

@Jonny101 The person you spoke to hit the nail on the head, Ravi Singh has bought the amount of charity works Singhs do into the limelight, we need that positive PR.

that's 100% true. I live in india and I hv hindu colleagues and they hate Sikhs helping muslims.

In future when we will hv Khalistan, our secret agencies will use our daswandh for the safety of our nation which will mean getting soft power or positive PR or other geo political moves.

I disagree. Soft power is a concept that states that countries can exercise because their culture, language, film industry is so well known and liked in other countries that these other countries will make decisions favourable to that country solely because of this.

Are we really that naïve to think that the Muslim countries will help us if we align ourselves with the Muslims in India? This is what these charities are doing by organising langars for anti-CAA rallies and cleaning Mosques. Instead of making nuanced choices of what we support and what we do not support, these charities in order to piss off the Hindus are now showing Sikhs as aligning with the Muslims. These kind of shortsighted tactics are bound to backfire on us. There is no way a Muslim will support Sikhs unless there is an advantage to Islam. We have already seen what attempts at creating  'soft power' have done, just look at pictures of the Kabul Gurdwara attack. KA's flood relief in Kerala didn't create enough 'soft power' to prevent a Keralite Muslim from murdering 25 Sikhs and desecrating the Gurdwara. That should have been the wake up call that 'soft power' does not work.

Ravi Singh is quite vocal stating that he has made the turban known around the world, the fact is has he? What use is a Haitian orphan or a Zambian village knowing what a Sikh is? Does that justify the over £100,000 spent by Ravi Singh in these places? Do you really think that that was money well spent when you consider how much that money could have helped in Punjab.

Is spending 80% of funds collected as 'daswandh' on non-Sikhs who already have millions collected for them from other sources really worth it in order to piss off Hindus?

If they're going to play the 'Sikh card', for their political agendas, charities, then you don't have Sikh interests first then you should be held accountable. Tan Dhesi was went viral when he had go Boris for his 'Islamophobia'...has he mentioned anything for Jaggi Johal? Will they speak against the grooming gangs, minorities prosecuted in Islamic countries and so on...Same with the liberal Sikh mps in Canada...they don't say much when it comes to other issues. We all know, playing the Muslim clout will advance careers and get plenty clout...do what you they want to do, but using Sikhi when it suits you is wrong. We go viral when we giving langar, coverage all over medias 'Sikhs giving free food'..yet hardly any aid when comes anything else.

KA is 'global charity;' and want to help humans then stop capitalizing on Sikhi for further your brand, when they're not Sikh charity or Sikhi interests. You dont see Islamic charities, christian charities, helping those not their faith. Punjab, the christian charities are making poor Sikhs convert before they help them. Do what they want to do but stop using Sikhi to build a brand, multi-millionaire institution when Sikhi does not come first imo

@Jonny101 Totally disagree with your friend.  Are we going to get Pak side Khalistan back? All the past leaders and khrakus stood on their own. Whether against Islam, gora, Hindus...they didn't beg for anyone...If we had that mentality then we would been extinct a long time ago. We have no friends. Whether India, Pakistan or elsewhere. NYSF has links with Cage UK, a pro Islamist group. Is this what we need as allies, to join Islamist groups to help us with 'Khalistan'..  Kafirs will always remain kafirs.

I agree with u, in fact I agree with all of ur posts on this forum.

80% is too much.

The problem is that our Kaum never takes time out to consider each and every action and we just jump in without thinking what each option is and what the best option for the Kaum in the long term. There is no doubt that he upper caste Hindus, the Bahman, Khatri, Bania hate the Sikhs but there are significant population of Hindus who are either indifferent or supportive of Sikhs. These people are the ones we should be trying to win over, the Dalits and the poorer classes. Have a read of the news story below and see how with the most minimal of expense probably less that 1% of what Khalsa Aid has spent the Gurdwara has used the real SOFT POWER in order to win over converts to Sikhi. Can you imagine if each and every Gurdwara did what this Gurdwara is doing and showing what a true Gurdwara was in the times of the Gurus.

https://www.hindustantimes.com/punjab/sewa-at-guru-s-home-prompts-them-to-embrace-sikhism/story-LbCUC4Fp5GdvDzGfu0kEIP.html

We should be aligning with the lower castes of Hinduism because they are the people that we need to bring over to Sikhism but by aligning ourselves with people who hate us and whose belief system is totally counter to our own is akin to committing suicide.

There has been a riot when Dalits have been attacked by Muslims in Jaunpur in UP. Will Khalsa Aid send a sewadar there to help the Dalits? I doubt it.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
