Did any non-Sikh organization stepped up and helped any Sikhs during partition of 1947, 1984 attack, Sikh widows and other Sikh poor families when whole generation of 250k Sikh youth got shaheed. What about Delhi Sikh genocide? How about Vanjaray Sikhs, Sikhligar Sikhs? Name any non-Sikh organization spending millions helping Sikhs ever?

Sure Sikhs should help anyone but top priority must be Sikhs. If I run a Sikh organization, I would spend at least 90% of its budget on helping Sikhs.

The western charities do not make allowances for the stupidity of Khalsa Aid, They would rightly assume that a small minority which has numerous and pressing problems would be helping their own comunity. None of the big charities would blame KA or any other Sikh charity for helping just Sikhs. So when they see Khalsa Aid rushing off to places like Haiti, British Virgin Islands,  Kosovo, Syria naturally these non-sikh charities assume that Sikhs have no need for charity themselves. If KA did not exist then maybe charities would be more conducive for helping Sikhs.

Now Ravi Singh wants to make Khalsa Aid into a £100 million organisation, wants Sikhs to donate more, complains that £4 million is nothing! Wants to change the world for the better! What a joker.

I think that Sikhs who have been questioning him and who he keeps blocking on twitter is now getting to him and he is now claiming that Khalsa Aid will work more in Punjab and India.

All of you are right that Ravi Singh running khalasa aid for his personal gains not for Sikhs. As his donation  comes from Sikhs but goes to non sikhs and foreigners and he is being promoted by all non sikh foreign channels.  for getting his name on channels he is doing all this drama. In the Name of khalsa aid he is collecting money from Sikhs and giving to non-Sikhs because he Is promoted by non sikhs TV channels. which is totally against Sikhism. All his donations work is against Guru Granth sahib and our 10th Guru's orders.
Look at this given video link of Namdhari baba, this video is eye opener for everyone. We may not like Namdharis but his love for Sikhi is remarkable.

I really am on the fence about this (and i'm not standing up for them), I've met Ravi a few times and he's a decent guy who always want's to do the right thing but i thing but Khalsa Aid has grown a lot over the last few years and managing an charity is a huge task, one which he isn't that experienced in and i think it's lost focus from what it was originally set up to do.

He's always said Khalsa Aid was a Humanitarian Charity who help where there is need, we sit here and judge them for helping in Syria, Iran, Afghanistan and not so much in Punjab, I personally don't have an issue with that, to me a charity should help and not look at the race or religion of those they help, if you want to donate to a charity that specifically helps a certain religion then you should donate to them, simple. I donate to Unique Home in Jalandhar who specifically help girls who have been abandoned, it's very difficult for international charities to operate in Punjab due to the amount of politics and red tape (although some have managed to do it) so i donate to a charity based over there that i know have been vetted and are legit.

I've never understood the hate towards Khalsa Aid, specifically Ravi Singh, i think even if he was devoting 100% of his time to causes in Punjab someone would get up and take issue with that, each to their won i suppose.

I personally approached Khalsa Aid after my house burnt down in the UK, I asked for help. We were homeless, no food, no shelter and no clothes as all our things got burnt. No one helped. Not even the local gurdwaras. After everyone refused basic help, I said it was no problem if they did not want to do financial help but I asked if they could help lift the rubble as I had no one to help me (both parents not well). No one helped. Khalsa Aid  replied saying that they only help with causes abroad and not in England.

Years later Grenfell tower fire was on the news. Khalsa Aid was the first to ask for money and post pictures of them giving mineral water. I posted on their facebook page about the irony of them helping these fire families and not mine and they deleted my comment within 2 minutes. My comment basically asked why they chose to help Grenfell Tower victims as it was exactly what happened to my family but worse as we had no where to go and no help from anyone. I asked if it was because the Grenfell Tower was in the news and we were not and maybe thats why. There was immediate deletion of the post. Khalsa Aid only help if you are in national news. Our house fire was in the local newspaper but not on TV so it would not have generated enough money for Khalsa Aid. It also would not have scored them any brownie points with the government like the Grenfell Tower did.

To this day not a single person offered help, kind words or anything. This includes Sangat TV. Niskham Gurdwara on Soho Road refused to give us food on the day of the fire when we had no kitchen, no money and no food. I personally do not know why they bother doing homeless food runs etc. Maybe if were white they would have helped because then they would have got brownie points for we giving a white family langar when their house got on fire, when they have no house and no where to cook food.

It makes me sad because in my family we have had alot of shaheeds ie where my ancestors gave up their lives for the love of serving sikhi, as a family we used to donate to gurdwaras regularly. I remember when we were young these people came to our house and took loads of money for 1984 causes. They literally took thousands of pounds worth a whole years salary.

When you give and donate so much you expect your own community to stabd by you, to help you, to be kind, to show love and support. It turns out sikh seva is just when things are on TV or when it gets the organistions brownie points with non Sikhs or the government.

I no longer respect any Sikh, any organisation or gurdwara. I decided to stop going gurdwara, I do not donate money to anyone and no longer see gurdwaras or charities to be genuine. Its all business for them and nothing more.

I forgot to add, I even asked if they could give a loan and I would pay it back slowly so that way they lost no money and we could get over our hardship and they said no to that. It does not suprise me as they would not even give food. I do not know why we bothered ever donating money or thinking the gurdwara or khalsa aid would help because the truth is that they do not help Sikhs in need. The whole concept of helping the panth does not exist. You have to be non Sikh OR in the English news to get government brownie points and therefore worthy of help. It is a shame because that it not what our Gurus were about. The Gurus were not looking for awards or government recognition.

Midland Langar Seva is the same. They disappeared when we had no food but I went to their event recently and basically they just wanted to give food to white people and were like this is not for you. I personally think they have misunderstood Gurus idea of langar. Langar is for everyone even if you are a king or a poor beggar. The idea was that everyone socialised and it broke down barriers so that there was a community where rich and poor spoke to each other to unite and understand. It was also done on the knowledge that you were bettering yourself as a person ie those who were attending katha and vichaar etc. From what I have seen the druggies have no intention of making themselves better. They just want free food so they can save the rest of their money for drugs. The reason they are on the streets is because they save rent money to use on drugs. Feeding them defeats the purpose really.

Honestly I cannot real recommend anyone after what I experienced as not one single organisation could even give us roti when we had nothing. From that day onwards I see them all as hypocrites. Maybe the people who give to these people have not had anything bad happen to them and so do not know that they will not help you in your time of need. They will not even care to return and respect what you were donating to them. In a few generations our gurdwaras will become like churches because it will become obvious. My children are going to be raised to not give money or go gurdwara so it is a loss to the panth. In my opinion it is obvious there is no genuine seva in any gurdwara activity.

All the TV channels have been set up to get money and our community are dumb enough ti give it. I had the delight of meeting the Akaal channel owner Amrik Kooner owner after I was robbed of my laptop by 2 men who attacked me and punched me to the floor outside Akaal Channel under its CCTV. He refused to give police the CCTV and was demanding I pay him £140 for it.  These people like Amrik Kooner, Ravi from Khalsa Aid then go on TV and social gatherings pretending to be angels of the earth to get money from people. It is part of the act but truth is my encounters in my hours of need have shown the the truth of them.

For the rest of you out there who are lucky enough to not have to ask them for help then I want you to think about the matrimonal service led by the gurdwaras. Matrimonials is the best example of how little the gurdwaras care about serving our community. If they really cared they would have one list for the whole of the UK but instead there are 30 lists and they all charge money for the same people.

Sangat Matrimonial by Soho Road is the most expensive and has events in a hotel. I asked them why not in the langar hall or any of the rooms in that large complex of a gurdwara. Well if they did that then they cannot charge you the £70 registration fee and £30 dinner fee. Another gurdwara in Southall Park avenue does it the same in a hotel where they served chicken. I raised it as an issue that a gurdwara sikh matrimonial event is serving meat and it was brushed under the carpet. Again another example of the seva being fake and not doing real seva. Then they wonder why our community marries outside. Well, firstly we are a small community. Secondly we are spread about the country, the gurdwaras make it hard by wanting money and there is little success as they do not have the ekta or desire to have one list as it means they lose money. After all these hurdles it is just easier to marry Elizabeth or John at work.

Anyways back to the original issue - nobody is doing genuine seva. It is all about money. We too will become like churches because the panth is not serving the panth. It is serving money interests of those in charge.

He will block anyone that asks questions, his supporters will be abusive. If you question him you are a hater, he think the pictures alone are proof of where the money is being spent. People raise millions and he hands out packets of biscuits to flood victims and takes pictures. What about the cost of the trips he makes to around the world and takes his wife with him for a free holiday. The amount they raised for Punjab floods v what they spent was an eye opener, but no one will question them. Why did his nephew leave the charity and go and work for more grassroots level charity? Why have so many past volunteers left the charity? Why do they spend thousands on an annual charity dinner to showcase their work to their friends and family and people they want to keep on side. It’s corrupt, he’s corrupt, but it makes us feel good about being a sikh so we shoutdown lanyone speak up against them.  He wasn’t in the military he was just a trainee his background is mobile phones.

This i agree with 100%, but that discussions for another thread. I've said in my post i'm neither for or against Ravi Singh, everyone has there own personal experience, it's unfortunate that your has been so negative up to a point where you've lost faith.

We filmed a promotional piece for a search and rescue charity down south a while back and i was amazed at how cut throat the charity "industry" is, they have to fight tooth and nail to get your money so the more pr they get the better but unfortunately people who actually need help suffer because of it.

All the praise that they start to get from their followers becomes to much for their egos  and they become arrogant and in the end their dera becomes another money making scheme. KA has reached that level now. Rather than a vehicle for Ravi Singh to do Sewa, it is now his full time job and draws a salary from it. In essence it is now Baba Ravi Singh of Dera Khalsa Aid.

Yup. Well stated.

Just now I saw a video by a kuka's Head Thakur Dalip Singh which is eyes opener for our sikhs.

Hey bro, just like I've called out people on this website for posting videos by some loser calling himself "Satguru", I'd like to ask you to not post things by people calling themselves the custodian of the throne of Guru Nanak Dev ji Maharaj, the Satguru. And who don't believe in the Guruship of Guru Granth Sahib ji.

And this is regardless of whether he might happen to be saying something which is true.

Why would go and listen to someone calling himself Satguru?

Anyways, if you want to make a point regarding who Sikhs should give daan (charity) to, just quote Gurbani directly. You don't have to post the video of a charlatan saying the same thing.

I am so sorry this happened to you. I condemn those organizations which don't lift a finger to help fellow Sikhs. What are they for, anyway?

Yeah. You're right, and it's all the fault of the Gurdwara uncles, and also the new generation of grifters.

Many ppl been asking the same about their funding...but they block and never answer... They have millions in the bank, take salaries

What is going on? Wander what they playing at

Yeah, no kidding. 3.9 million of income, 1.4 million spent. Where did the other 2.5 million go??

Is he building a white-marble Khalsa Aid dera like the babas in Punjab do?

It would be one thing if we were swimming in cash, all of our problems had been solved, and we had so much extra that it would be unseemly not to share with outside communities.

But, currently, so many Sikhs are hurting, and he's spending 90% of the donations on non-Sikh problems?

I don't think most of you have quite grasped the fundamentals of your own religion. Sikhi doesn't preach seva. It preaches SELFLESS SEVA. With selfless seva one does not make conversion or listening to scriptures a pre-condition of help. With selfless seva one does not choose who to help and who not to help based on that person's background. With selfless seva you just go ahead and help. And that's exactly what Khalsa Aid do. They go ahead and help.

And then there is:

Very sorry your house burned down brother but I'm sure Khalsa Aid were as surprised as the rest of us to know that a family living in England, in this day and age,  could be so cavalier that they didn't even take out a basic Buildings and Contents insurance policy on their own home.

James Peter Farthing, 28, spoke to the 'teenager' on messaging service Kik - under the username 'olderc**k' - as well as on Snapchat. The junior doctor, who worked for the NHS in Stockport, asked to see photographs of her body and shared an image of <banned word filter activated>. The account was actually being run by an undercover police officer and Farthing was later arrested for attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child. However, today he walked free from Minshull Street Crown Court after being handed a suspended sentence. Lawyers mitigating for Farthing, said he had been juggling working long hours during the pandemic, his wife's health condition and his training.  They said he had 'emotional struggles', had been watching pornography and smoking cannabis at the time - but that he was working to address his issues. Her Honour Judge Tina Landale sentenced him to six months in prison, suspended for two years, after he admitted attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child. He was handed concurrent sentences for attempting to involve a child aged 13 or over in non-penetrative sexual activity; and attempting to engage with a child aged 13 to 15 to watch and look at images of a sexual nature. The court heard Farthing spoke to the 'girl' on Kik - under the username 'olderc**k', Fiona Clancy, prosecuting said. He also spoke to her on Snapchat, in March. He said he was 23 and from Leeds. The 'girl' was called 'Beth' and was said to have been from Liverpool. The cop used a picture of kittens to portray how young she was, Ms Clancy said. Farthing asked 'Beth' if she was into 'older guys' and if she would send him a picture. 'Beth' told him: 'I'm 13, by the way.' Farthing replied: 'Cool. Are you down for role play or sex?' He asked to see her body and offered to show her his <banned word filter activated>. The 'girl' said she was worried about sending a photograph. Farthing reassured her that if she didn't include her face, it 'should be fine'. 'The fact that the undercover officer was 13 was reiterated, but the sexual conversations continued,' Ms Clancy said, as the conversations moved to Snapchat. Farthing told 'Beth': 'I have spoken to a few girls that like older men.' The officer then sent a picture of a young, clothed girl.  Farthing sent a photograph of his <banned word filter activated>. 'I really want to touch your body and see what you look like naked,' he said. He then sent another picture of his <banned word filter activated>. Ms Clancy said that when officers arrested Farthing, he said he was 'ashamed' and 'tried to stop', but 'gave in to sexual pleasure', the court heard. Simon Gurney, defending, said Farthing, who has no previous convictions, was 'deeply ashamed and remorseful for his behaviour'.   His supervisor - a consultant - and training programme director provided statements to the court. Staff and patients 'all expressed shock' after Farthing was arrested, the court heard, as people thought he had a good 'moral compass'.  Mr Gurney said they 'stand by him' because they acknowledge his remorse. The lawyer said it was the first time in Farthing's career that he didn't enjoy his work - and that his family was in debt as a result of the pandemic.  Mr Gurney said Farthing 'only has himself to blame for jeopardising' his career.  Judge Landale said the 'girl' made it 'clear that she didn't want to talk about sex'.  Farthing was ordered to take part in the Horizon project; to complete 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days; and to undertake 200 hours of unpaid work. He was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order - to last a decade.   https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9995087/NHS-junior-doctor-28-groomed-13-year-old-girl-Kik-spared-prison.html
    • Plus who said I was some 'admitted expert' about the dumbing down? There's no two ways about it, everything is dumbed down for pendus. Who can't see that? The only people who can't see it, are the dumb themselves.
    • Who do you think is the dog's bollocks then? Go on, give us a laugh.  To be honest, they are pretty much all insufferable to me, that's why I prefer reading. This guy just smashed it with his santhiya readings, I can't count how many other people have also learnt to read Gurbani from his recitals. That's got to be acknowledged. I did see him a few times at Goodmayes Gurdwara and he was better than most I've ever heard (which ain't many). I mean I stayed till the end for the first time. lol Moms used to watch Maskeen a lot, but as a young energetic person, I always found his style a bit boring and couldn't engage. Plus you know all these guys like to add their things in. And you should know by now, given the opportunity, I prefer trying to decipher the original puratan texts when I'm able to.  It's like shastarsingh said on another thread, You can pick up important information within two minutes in a book that you have to listen to two hours katha for....  Katha not my thing, so I'm no expert about it. But seeing as it's mainly done for rurals, I don't have high expectations anyway. At least they aren't bhangra paa-ing like fudhoos I guess? Not until later in the evening anyway.  PS - I think maybe because he is of a considerable girth, his vocal delivery is clear. Some others I have heard sound like they are mumbling somewhat which is off putting.
    • You've got to be joking me, bro. This Singh is a top kathavachak for you? You, the admitted expert about the gradual dumbing down of Sikhi to appeal to the lowest common denominator, defending this religious gentleman? I hope you're trolling me.
