That's why they opposed the Punjabi language in favour of Hindi and still to this day Punjabi Hindus speak Hindi instead of Punjabi. Now all of a sudden they want to reclaim Baisakhi.

that's right. They speak hindi and think punjabIi is rustic language.

I know punjabI movies/songs don't hv much link with sikhi but it certainly has boosted punjabi language.Even bollywood copies punjabi songs.

In punjabi movies we hv turbaned heroes which has greatly promoted turban.

Now sardaar boys hv girl friends and they don't hv to become monaa to hv girl friend.

Punjabi films have overtaken Bollywood films outside of India in terms of popularity.

You see the Hindu Punjabi Bollywood actors suddenly discover their Punjabi roots.

cynthia mahmood who wrote the really gd book Fighting for Faith and Nation: Dialogue with sikh militants    was gang raped by the punjab police while she was doing her research in punjab back in the 90s      the incident actually motivated her to right the book   because she said that if she as a educated journalist can get gang raped like that then imagine what the police does to your average punjabi girl who has no voice.

true colours of 'leaders' coming out phoolka is a villiain really

Phoolka has tweeted that he wants the Punjab DGP to chargesheet the Nihangs within 2 days and have them convicted and given exemplary punishment within 10 days. The moorkh was supposedly fighting the Indian justice system for 35 years and now he has become a supporter of the same state and wants the state to rush their trial through. Nothing in his tweet states that they are innocent until found guilty! This moorkh is supposed to be a human right lawyer. He is a part of the same jungle raj system that he supposedly fights against.

It is their inferiority complex if they think Punjabi is rustic. If they want to discard their Punjabiness and speak Hindi the language of Bhaiyas that is up to them. Punjabi is our Maa while Hindi/Urdu is like our Maasi. Maasi can never become Maa. Only a really neech (ਨੀਚ)person would feel ashamed of his mother because he considers her rustic or poor.

Punjabi films have also bypassed India as a whole. In Punjabi movies it is either Punjab or abroad. India is never shown or considered anywhere. Even the airports that are shown is always the Amritsar airport never the Delhi airport.

hahah true ..same with Pakistanis...

'Punjabi' Muslims / hindus ..rejected their culture and mother language chose urdu and hindi...since 1947...

Now you see Muslims and Hindus having 'punjabis' on their bio...

The modern image or punjaiyat and 'Jatt culture' has been mostly formed by Sikhs esp singers like Jazzy B, Kuldeep Manak...now like Sidhu moosewala..created new buzz....
