this recording is one of my favorites  have it on my phone and listen to it often    

iv noticed how in a lot of the older recordings of kirtan  the voice overpowers the music, while today a lot of the time its the other way round.

iv read that bhai surjan singh was almost blind in his later years but he still continued doing kirtan at gurdware and that even on his last day b4 he passed away he performed kirtan

This was my Dad's favourite he always used to get a lot of bairag with it, we played it at his sanskar.I think one time when we first used to go to AKJ rehnsbhai kirtans in 1979/80 we actually met him travelling up on train.

I was humming this for most of Sunday.

Bhai Surjan Singh’s asa ki vaar is also in same tune. Listening to him, you can sense human soul in love in reciting gur ki bani.
