A philosophical conundrum / mental exercise

Some prisons in the UK have started releasing inmates in order to prevent the Coronavirus from decimating the prison population. 

Aside from the fact that they're being removed from perhaps the most securest form of social isolation (), I'm curious what some of you would do if you were responsible for such policies, particularly if these released prisoners went on to commit crimes.

How do you balance the dignity of human life (including those of hardened criminals) with the severe threat they would pose to innocents? What if one of the prisoners went on to murder somebody? How would you justify it?

i just find it odd how they think the virus can spread in prisons!  maybe the prison guards can spread it to the prisoners?

in the india news they were saying they might release some of the prisoners.

i dnt think they should be released but contact between officers/guards should be limited 

my cousin was in prison and his 5yr term got cut down to around 4yrs because he behaved    b4 they come out for a few months they let them go out of prison for a few hours   he used to visit us.

they give them duties  in prison and pay them   cleaning, tidying, cooking etc   my cousin was the cook   

im sure the people they release would have those tags around their ankles to navigate where they are going etc  

if they are releasing them then psychos should be kept in the prisons like murderers, rapists and pedos while thugs, thieves, dealers etc  should be the ones released

If it's safe to let them out to avoid possible corona cases in prison ...it was always safe to let them out?  Like it seems like an admission we over incarcerate. 

Furthermore... wouldn't they just as likely, or more likely, get and spread corona outside prison?

Yh they probably will   that's why it doesnt make sense    in america they've already started releasing them.  Gd for them! Lol    but they more likely to catch it    or is that the aim?    Prisons world over are struggling with the number of inmates.
