Bibya drinking alcohol

I really dnt worry or bother about the kind of people in the video. Most people from other communities know there is a difference between actual religious Sikhs  then the other kind like the ones in the video.

In my last job this paki kid was telling me how the sikh boys used to mess around in his school but then he said to me  that he can tell that I'm the religious "type".   Iv had other people say similar stuff   like  "the really religious Sikhs with blue turbans" or  "sikh sect with blue turbans"  iv had people say "your people" referring to religious sikhs that dont eat meat, differentiating us from the regular punjabis .   Iv had a gora ask me which type of sikhi I am if I am the religious sikh or not religious sikh.

I had a polish woman inviting me to a after work party and she was like "you obviously dont drink but you can still come"  I never even told her I dnt drink lol

Most people from other communities know there is a difference   you would be surprised lol 

It seems a blue dumalla is associated with religious sikhs    and it rightly should.

same when my fuffar visited he started telling us how his house is bigger than ours, he pointed to the end of our garden and said his house goes all the way up to there 

once all my massis daughters from canada visited and one of their sons was like your house is so small,  and my cousin sister from here was like at least the roofs don't blow of when theres a storm outside 

my cousin sister recently visited from canada  and she said how her brother has anger problems and he punches the walls, but she was like if he punches a wall of these british houses he would break his hand.  there houses are like cardboard lol

Their houses are made out of plasterboard. 

They last about 30 years and then they have to be rebuilt.

yh iv seen videos of roofs and walls blowing off when theres a storm    not very weather resistant lol

New-build UK houses are a disgrace.  The ones built after 2005 are shocking. 

I was decorating a new-build last year. When I finished the skirting, one of my legs had gone to sleep, and I used my elbow to leverage my body so I could stand up. My elbow went through the wall, lol. It was literally cardboard. The repair was perfect, but still.

Leicester woman who turned to alcohol after sex abuse felt silenced

A child sex abuse survivor has told how she felt silenced about her ordeal and turned to alcohol to cope.

Aunee Bhogaita, from Leicester, entered rehab for alcoholism last year, but said she felt her addiction was ignored by friends and family for years.

She said: "In the Asian community, we have the need to present ourselves as this picture perfect image."

Sikh Recovery Network, an addiction recovery charity, said it saw a 40% rise in calls during the pandemic.

'Numb myself'

Ms Bhogaita said she was sexually abused as a child and felt "more or less silenced".

"I never really got a chance to heal from that," she said.

She became an alcoholic at the age of 24.

"I was always trying to be someone other people wanted me to be," she said.

"I wanted something to numb myself from myself, and I chose alcohol.

"I was drinking previously but at the age of 24 I started to abuse alcohol; I started using it as a self-medicating thing."

Ms Bhogaita, 37, is now in recovery after a medical detox and a four-month stay in rehab.

She said: "Within the Asian community... we have the need to present ourselves as this picture perfect image. Because of that we often silence people.

"Within my own family, at first, there was shame [about my addiction].

"But it got to the point that they realised that I was dying.

"Once they realised the reality of the situation, all that worry of the shame went out the window."

In 2020 Ms Bhogaita's mother contacted the Sikh Recovery Network, a charity which provides addicts with information on where to receive help or treatment for alcohol and drug dependency.

The charity said there had been a significant rise in the number of people who have called the service, but there are fears women continue to be under-represented.

The charity's founder Jaz Rai said only 10% of the calls received to the network were from women struggling with addiction.

He said: "I think more women are definitely suffering in silence, and are afraid to reach out for help.

"People who are already in toxic relationships, and for whom drink was their crutch, they've relied on it more, because they're not able to break free from that relationship or talk to anyone about it."
