Magical ardas

Lot’s of my ardaas were answered. Every time it builds your faith more in the Guru

But a few things weren’t. As time goes on you realise Waheguru gave you something far greater than what you were asking for. That shows you how your thinking is limited and Guru ji is wiser than you:

Tu samrath vadha meri maat thori raam

So I’d say ardaas is never ignored. If you feel it is you’re either being tested, what you’re asking for is not right for you or something way bigger is coming your way.

Ardaas should always be filled with love:

Kudha manzoor karta hai duaa jo dil se hoti hai. Mushkal yeh hai ki voh mushkal se hoti hai

~God accepts that prayer which is done from the heart. The difficulty is praying from the heart (with sincerity) is difficult

Thats true, I love that quote- thanks for sharing.

A lot of problems in life come because of the heavy influence of kalyug but if we turn to guru sahib maharaj ji has the responsibility to save his devotee because maharaj ji has given us that bachan in gurbani.

I'm struggling with my marriage but I believe that maharaj ji joined us with his pavitar laavan and it's kalyug/western influence which has introduced things like divorce as in guru jis time a gursikh wouldn't ever consider divorce. So I have faith that guru sahib will save my marriage, guru gobind Singh ji says in his bachan that a man should never ever even think of another woman other than his wife - it's paap. A lot of people say that there may be something better etc, I would probably follow that thinking if it was for a job or something whereas situations like marriage which is done in GGSJ's hazuri can't just be a mistake...So I hope waheguru ji will do the same rakhya for me n my hubby as he did for bhai joga Singh.

I’ve asked for guidance and for God to help rid me of doubts and insecurities and those prayers have been answered. We dictate our own lives so I asked for guidance

“Panjva Bhejo naa”

Once a principal of a village school in Punjab, invited Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh Ji and his fellow singhs to do an akhand keertan samagam in his village. This samagam was to be a 4-day samagam and began on a Wednesday. Lots of school children attended it and some of them expressed their desire to do amrit chhak. The amrit sanchaar was to be done on Sunday, the last day of samagam. On Thursday evening, the school principal sent a message to Bhai Sahib requesting him to prepone the Amrit Sanchaar. The principal was worried that 3 days of time might change the minds of amrit abhilakhi children. Bhai Sahib agreed to prepone the samagam and decided to conduct it next day (Friday) morning.

In the morning, one of the Bhai Sahib’s fellow singhs came to him and said that they were one singh short for serving on Panj pyaare. He also said that if we go to the city for bringing a singh, it would be almost evening by the time we return. Bhai Sahib said only Guru Sahib can find a way out now. He came to the main hall in the village gurdwara and asked all of the sangat to recite a paath of Siri Japji Sahib before doing the ardaas for the Fifth Singh. After the recitation of Siri Japji Sahib, Bhai Sahib started doing the ardaas and by the time conclusion came, Bhai Sahib said

O Sachhe Patshaah 'Panjva Bhejo na” He kept on saying “Panjva Bhejo naa” (send the fifth singh to serve as Panj Pyaara), “Panjva Bhejo naa”

Since, such a great Gurmukh was doing ardaas, how could it go unfulfilled.

ਬਿਰਥੀ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
The prayer of the Lord's humble servant is never offered in vain.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋਰੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਣਤਾਸਿ ॥2॥13॥77॥
Nanak takes the strength of the Perfect Lord of the Universe, the treasure of excellence.

Simulatneously Guru Sahib was doing kirpa and making arrangements for Bhai Sahib’s ardaas to be fulfilled.

A Gurmukh Pyaara (Bhai Sahib’s very good friend) was passing through the village and seeking directions to go to the city, unaware that Bhai Sahib was in the village. Suddenly, this Gurmukh Pyaara saw a beautiful Baana-clad Singh riding a bicycle coming towards him. Before this Grumukh could ask him for directions for going to the city, this Singh said, "are you looking for the place where Bhai Randhir Singh ji is doing samagam?" The Gurmukh said. "Oh Bhai Randhir Singh ji is in town."

He said yes and gave him directions to the school. When this Gurmukh reached the village gurdwara, he saw Bhai Sahib in complete Bairaag avastha, with tears rolling down from his eyes, saying “Panjva Bhejo naa”. This Gurmukh asked a person in the gurdwara as to what for was Bhai Sahib doing ardaas. He explained the situation to him and then this Gurmukh said “Panjva aa gaya” (the fifth singh to serve as Panj Pyaara has arrived).

After this, Bhai Sahib completed the ardaas and then met his old friend. Both of them hugged and were completely in tears. Bhai Sahib asked his friend: "how come you are here?" He replied, "I was passing by and a beautiful Baana clad singh directed me towards you."

One wonders who that beautiful Baana clad singh was? The fifth Singh was Sant Bhai Hira Singh Daudpuri, whose jeevan has been written in Ranglay Sajjan by Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee.

Woaw such a beautiful saakhi.

Reminds me of another sakhi I heard apparently it's true.

Author: Unknown

Dr. Mark, a well-known cancer specialist, was once on his way to an important conference in another city where he was going to be granted an award in the field of medical research. He was very excited to attend the conference and was desperate to reach as soon as possible. He had worked long and hard on his research and felt his efforts deserved the award he was about to obtain. However, two hours after the plane took off, the plane made an emergency landing at the nearest airport due to some technical snag. Afraid, that he wouldn’t make it in time for the conference, Dr. Mark immediately went to the reception and found that the next flight to the destination was after ten hours. The receptionist suggested him, to rent a car and drive himself down to the conference city which was only four hours away.

Having no other choice, he agreed to the idea despite his hatred for driving long distances.
Dr. Mark rented a car and started his journey. However, soon after he left, the weather suddenly changed and a heavy storm began. The pouring rain made it very difficult for him to see and he missed a turn he was supposed to take.

After two hours of driving, he was convinced he was lost. Driving in the heavy rain on a deserted road, feeling hungry and tired, he frantically began to look for any sign of civilization. After some time, he finally came across a small tattered house. Desperate, he got out of the car and knocked on the door. A beautiful lady opened the door. He explained the matter and asked her if he could use her telephone.
However, the lady told him that she doesn’t have a phone or any electronic gadget but told the doctor to come inside and wait till the weather improved.
Hungry, wet and exhausted, the doctor accepted her kind offer and walked in. The lady gave him hot tea and something to eat. The lady told him that he can join her for prayer. But, Dr. Mark smiled and said that he believed in hard work only and told her to continue with her prayers.
Sitting on the table and sipping the tea, the doctor watched the woman in the dim light of candles as she prayed next to what appeared to be a small baby crib.

Every time she finished a prayer, she would start another one. Feeling that the woman might be in need of help, the doctor seized the opportunity to speak as soon as she finished her prayers. The doctor asked her what exactly she wanted from the God and enquired if she thought God will ever listen to her prayers. He further asked about the small child in the crib for whom she was apparently praying. The lady gave a sad smile and said that the child in the crib is her son who is suffering from a rare type of cancer and there is only one doctor Mark who can cure him but she doesn’t have money to afford his fee and moreover Dr Mark lives in another far off town. She said that God has not answered her prayer so far but said that God will create some way out one day and added that she will not allow her fears to overcome her faith.

Stunned and speechless Dr Mark was in tears which were rolling down his cheeks. He whispered, God is great and recollected the sequence of events. ….there was malfunction in the plane, a thunderstorm hit, and he lost his way; and all of this happened because God did not just answer her prayer but also gave him a chance to come out of materialistic world and give some time to the poor hapless people who have nothing but rich prayers.

maer ae prabh saradhhaa bhagath man bhaavai jan k ee paij savaarae 1
Faith and devotion are pleasing to my God's Mind; He saves the honor of His humble servants. 1 ( Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Pannaa 982)

Once there was no rain in a particular area for an extended period. The people of that area decided to do Ardas so that their crops are saved. The people gathered together at one place for Ardas. One passing by Sikh Saint stopped there and asked them the purpose of gathering. One of them told the Sikh Saint that that they had gathered here to do Ardas because the crops will be destroyed in the absence of rain. The Saint said that is good but none of you brought any umbrellas or barsatie (rain coats)…. When Waheguru accepted your Ardas then there will be lot of rain. One group leader laughingly said, but we do not know whether it will rain or not. The Saint said,

"How will your Ardas be accepted when you do not have faith in Waheguru" . He told them to go home .

You alone are my strength, and my Court, O my Lord and Master; unto You alone I pray. There is no other place where I can offer my prayers; I can tell my pains and pleasures only to You. 2 ( Guru Granth Sahib Ji, ang735 )

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
