1. So durga is not a devi (or kirpan, as many of us have come to understand) ) according to Dasam Bani ? or this is the case according to hindu literature?

2. where does this place us within sanatan dharm then?

3. what about chandi? is she also not a devi or kirpan, but another form of durga?

Genuine questions because I really do want to understand where Sikhi fits in.

Durga is creation of Akalpurkh - Chandi di war. Read the exact lines tun hi durga saaj ke. God created durga she was not born but created. There are no biological father mother or conceiving of durga or her childhood. She was created as a warrior by god in blink of eye and she appeared as it is out of no where. She doent have a gender like god but its assumed God is male and all the religious text sees him as male in same way Dugra is seen as a female but she is genderless.

She is worshiped as a devi every female is a devi but sikhs dont worship her as a devi neither sikhs reject her as a devi. You have to find this balance. Guru granth sahib says if you worship a devi (mahamai - greatest mother) you will be born as a woman but guru Gobind singh ji praises her bow his head in her feet throughout his banni. Follow this balance.

Durga represents power of Akalpurkh Kirpan represents this power and so do all the weapons. A gun represents durga as much as a kirpan. So this concept of durga bhagauti chandi is only kirpan doesnt hold.

What is chandi ? Chandi is name given to Durga when she killed Demon Chanda just like she was given a name Chamunda when she killed demon Munda and mahakali when she killed raktbeej. In words Chandi literally means Killer of demon Chanda no more significance.

Read Ugradanti you will understand this balance

The concept has changed many times. Earliest remnants of shiv (consciousness) - shakti (energy) concepts go back to BCE era perhaps when these concepts were first mentioned in hindu school of thoughts. Same goes for trai-gun of sato, rajo, tamo which was established in mimamsa school of hindu philosophy.

I think some of us atleast should try to understand what the six schools say , and perhaps also read vedas and upanishads ?

Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji doesn't bow his head at Durga feet.  Durga bows her head at Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji.   Narsingh doesn't have a father and mother, yet Narsingh was consumed by death, according to Sri Dasam Granth Sahib ji.   Your understanding of how the drama of Vaheguru play is very poor.  No spiritually wise person would make the grave mistake of saying Akal Purakh in his 10th form as Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji bowed at the feet of Durga.

Certain factions of the nihangs believe Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji had to bow at Durga feet to obtain powers to create punj pyare and receive shakti to fight.  They have been uttering these lies for centuries because they have been heavily influenced by their pandit teachers.  Had they opened up their eyes and read Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji and Sri Dasam Granth Sahib ji with faith in their Guru, they would not be so blind.

You would think the younger generations who have quick access to the Guru's bani would stop with these lies; they would be able to find the correct answers. Instead they continue to spread these lies at a faster rate because of the internet ability to reach a wider audience.  The missionaries that slander Sri Dasam Granth Sahib ji are the complete opposite of these type of nihangs.  They aggressively have spread false information to counter these nihangs.  This drama has been happening for ages.  First the Hindus were arguing amongst themselves about which devi or devta is the supreme being and now the same is happening amongst these ignorant Sikhs.  But the Sikhs have received the divine knowledge as Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji and are still lost.  As godly people who are a lot worse.  The Hindus who thought they had the divine knowledge and ignorantly followed it or Sikhs who say Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji bowed at the feet of Durga and have the divine knowledge of God?  Without any doubt these arrogant Sikhs who call themselves Nihangs. Even their explanation are stupid.  Literally they dont make any sense, but the younger generations like a goggley eyed fish eat up everything.

I understand where you’re coming from. We have enough issues as it is without the need to further muddy the waters. Eventually outsiders and others with ill-intent will pick up these issues and even more aggressively pursue us. This will just lead to a greater divide. One side will instinctively deny and disown it all ( as we see in the dhardi neki panthpreet camp). Their  purging  will keep getting more gruesome as more and more things present themselves as contradictions and eventually lead to athieism. While the other side will drift towards the logical polar extreme of sanatan dharm.

Somewhere in between lies the nyara panth…tisra panth…nirmal panth…sikhi. All of us need to learn from one another and be humble and courageous enough to find the truth, whatever it may be.

If Guru Gobind Singh ji had bowed to durga why would Guru Gobind singh ji in his baani say

Anhad roop anahad baani charan saran jeh basat bhawani (the lord who's form is boundless and whose speech is unstruck sound, goddess bhawani (durga) also takes refuge in his feet)

Read these lines loud and again again and please improve my poor knowledge by telling me the meaning of "tuman duar par sees apna ghasvaun" and "tuman charan par surat hamari lagani" and yes please share the verse from gurbani which states durga is bowing head in front of guru Gobind singh ji. A son would never let a mother bow her head in front of her atleast not a son like Guru Gobind Singh ji. Leave every thing aside " Namo Jagat Mata " in jaap is reference to ? and its for sikhs or Guru gobind Singh ji himself bowing to mother of the universe. Please enlighten me "WITH FACTS" not stories of logical manmat

There are three factions in sikhism when it comes to dasam bani.

2 read it as it is and translate it as it is.

Missionaries read dasam granth and reject it as it contains praise of Jagat Mata
NIhangs and few others read dasam granth as it as and accepts the praise of Jagat Mata

3rd are the confused ones neither they have understanding to accept the praise of Jagat Mata nor they have b***s to reject dasam bani so they tend to make things. Yes its written mata here here guru sahib doesnt mean it.

Out of these 3 only 1 is right it can be a missionary or this nihang but 1 thing is sure this 3 rd confused group can never be right.

Whats the relation of Durga bowing head in front of Akalpurkh and Guru Gobind Singh ji bowing in front of both ?

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
