Try using a mala if it helps? 

I also can concentrate when I go out for a walk in the evening. Outdoors does help aswell. 

Sometimes after you have watched a katha etc and your mind really connected then start doing simran. 

I prefer when I can only hear my voice, so I assumed outside the other noise would put me off but I will try it thank you

Do try it and ignore Singh375. Unfortunately he's not only misguided but states mool mantar is from Ik-oankar to Jap WHEN it is Ik-oankar to Hosee bhi sach. 

But rather than arguing farther, read Society of Saints should u get the chance and decide for yourself.

Although Singh375 deserves literally one credit... "It takes minutes." YES! If it's up to God he can b obtained within minutes.

First close your eyes and sit comfortably with your shoulder straight. Don't open your eyes, then contemplate that waheguru is everywhere and only thou alone exist in the whole world.if you do it for few minutes then you can chant waheguru and it's also mandatory to listen to whatever you're chanting at that moment, it will keep your focus on theantra and one more thing never chant it quickly, chant it slowly slowly try to chant it with love or from your heart. If you do it this way then you would be amazed after it.
