What is the origin of the Badals? Where did they come from?

The patiala royal family can trace their roots back to the Sikh misl period and even before that.

The Majithias were a very powerful aristocrat family during the time of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and they had quite a influence in the Darbar

These same elite families have been ruling for a very very long time even b4 the British arrived. 

But where did the Badals come from? 

And have you noticed how the patiala lot are still marrying into other royal families? Still havent given that up. Interesting.
