Ramnik Bhaji,

THAT IS GREAT!

I know some Russian/East-European people, and they are alright. Actually, as you pointed out, lots of Russians are interested in Indian religions and some want to learn about Vedas and all. A friend told me that there was a girl who learned Punjabi and went into a Punjabi shop here and they were all surprised.

dear friends,

i wanted to post another photo, i tried many times it is a jpeg file but somehow i am not able to upload it. we dont have ANY gurudwara sahibs here, we have diwan in this hall only on sunday's. Can anybody tell me is spreading religion in the sence converting people to sikhism is alowed in sikhism? i am asking this because, most of the people here are absolutely empty, no spiritualism or religion in them at all. i know people here , they are good, honest, hardworking and believe in good deeds but dont believe in god. should the sikh community spread our gurus words here in russia? maybe this is what the government here doesnt want, that is why they are sceptical against other relgions. i know a russian girl who met a amritdhari sikh boy in cyprus, fell in love with him , went to india recently to meet his parents and soon they are going to get married. (she is learning punjabi and wants to take amrit) ^_^

sat naam sri waheguru we pray for a gurudwara sahib here in moscow! we are longing to have a gurudwara sahib here!

that is great, but from what I understand my brothers and sisters have it very hard in russia. As they do not recognise sikhi as a faith, and not many gurdwaras.

How is the postion of sikhs there, veerji?

yes, it is hard as most of the russians think we are muslims because of our beard and turban. they have bad feelings towards the muslims due to recent happenings and their problems in chechnya! but we ar carrying on by gurujis grace. jisko rahe sayian , maar sake na koi!

well sikhs I belive from what my friend told me a while bak are not regognised, I belive that they cant name Gurdwara but have to open community centres instead. Is there any progress, on getting Sikhs recognised as a faith.

what is the average population size of Aikh in Russia now, Do you need any help from international sangat, please ask I think we all need to help our communitty internationally, Russia, Eastern Europe, Iraq, Afganhuistan, etc

sangat ji,

sadly i cant do prachar a i am a murakh. i have just started doing nitnem. but i try to tell them the basics of sikhism and why we keep kesh nd beards. regarding help, i will speak to the elders here in the gurudwara, they are in a better position to explain what help we need. i know everybody here will be glad to get literature and kirtan (mybe cd's or dvd's or books). as we dont have a permanent gurudwara where we can sit and listen to kirtan, sakhis or katha. we really miss all these spiritual gifts a lot. i am going to india tomorrow to my family for the new year and will be back here in moscow on the 25th january. if anybody can arrange to send us material and literature by then, i will be glad to distribute among the moscow sangat, believe me they will be happy too.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
