100 years of the SGPC

On the15th of November 1920, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee was established following the dedicated agitations and countless sacrifices of the Babbar Akali, Singh Sabha, and Gurdwara Sudhar lehirs.

The aim of founding the institution was to manage the religious affairs of the Sikhs and better represent the political interests of the Qaum.

Join us as we look back at the last hundred years to see what has been achieved, and to engage in collective deliberation that strengthens our direction over the next century.

ਅੱਜ ਤੋਂ ਸੌ ਸਾਲ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੁਝ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਵਿਭਚਾਰੀ ਮਹੰਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਗੈਰ-ਪੰਥਕ ਅਨਸਰਾਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਮੋਰਚਿਆਂ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ, ਸਿੰਘ ਸਭਾ ਲਹਿਰ, ਬੱਬਰ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਦੀ ਭਾਰੀ ਜਦੋ ਜਹਿਦ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤਾਂ ਉਪਰੰਤ 15 ਨਵੰਬਰ 1920 ਨੂੰ 'ਸ਼ਰੋਮਣੀ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਕਮੇਟੀ' ਹੋਂਦ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਆਂਦੀ ਗਈ।

ਮਕਸਦ ਇਹ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ, ਸਿਆਸੀ ਹਿੱਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਨਿਧਤਾ ਇਹ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਕਰੇਗੀ।
