Fools, Indira Gandhi once walked into Harmandhir Sahib and all sangat stood up apart from Sant Kartar Singh Bhindrawale. Khalsa ji simply said why are you standing up for a mere mortal when already in the presence of the King of Kings.

Singhs in this video practically kissing his hands and feet

Quite shocking how they were rushing to shake his hand and take selfies with him, I'm guessing they are BJP supporters.

I think that happened in Delhi, where the government had organised a stage on the Shaheedi divas of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, Guru Granth sahib maharaj was on the stage, 1000s had gathered and when indira got on stage to do a speech all the Singhs on stage got up apart from Sant Kartar Singh Bhindranwale. When it was sant jis turn to do a speech he said the Singhs shouldn't of stood up for indira, and Sant ji said to indira that if it wasn't for Guru Jis shaheedi then she would have been standing on stage wearing a burqa today. Which is true, as indira was a Kashmiri Pandit, the very community who Guru ji gave shaheedi for.

Clockwise from left: Lathicharge on farmers in Karnal on Saturday; Farmers from various unions block Shambhu Toll Plaza during their protest against te Haryana Police and government near Ambala; Protests in Ludhiana.

ENRAGED BY the lathicharge on protesting farmers in Karnal, farmers in Punjab on Saturday burnt effigies of the Haryana BJP government in hundreds of locations. They also protested against Punjab BJP president Ashwani Sharma when he visited Ludhiana to attend a meeting with the party’s trade cell.

In Ludhiana, farmers showed black flags to Sharma’s convoy and raised slogans against him as he entered a hotel on Ferozepur road for his meeting and later when he left. However, there was no interaction between the two parties.

Buta Singh Burjgill, president of BKU Dakaunda, said, “It seems that the Haryana government did this act at the behest of the central government. However, we will intensify our protest even more.”

Jagmohan Singh Dakaunda, general secretary of BKU Dakaunda, said: “In Punjab, at over 100 pakka dharna sites, effigies were burnt of the BJP government and we continue with our call of protesting BJP leaders in public.”

Naraian Dutt, from Inqlabi Kendra, said, “It seems that the Centre wants to get the dharna lifted from Haryana by hook or by crook and hence, hence they are resorting to such actions as most of the dharnas at Delhi borders fall in Haryana. However, when farmers are not being heard, they will further intensify their dharna. Such incidents are not going to intimidate us. Our pakka dharna was outside Barnala railway station and we burnt the effigy of the Khattar government at that spot.”

Jhanda Singh Jethuke, vice-president of BKU Ugrahan, said, “On Saturday, we burnt effigies of the Khattar government in Faridkot and Amritsar villages and this will continue on Sunday. Effigies were also burnt at pakka dharnas and we strongly condemn this action.”

Sukhdev Singh Kokrikalan, general secretary of BKU Ugrahan, said, “Though farmers have blocked roads in Haryana in protest of this action, in Punjab, there is no such call. Instead of initiating dialogue with farmers, now farmers are being attacked. Such acts will not be tolerated by unions and we will intensify our campaign.” Jagmohan Singh added, “Attacking farmers and later sending them to jails seems to be a deep conspiracy of the Centre. They are trying to snub the protesting farmers, but we will continue to struggle till our demands are met.”

Promises by BJP

Meanwhile, at the trade cell meeting, the Punjab BJP president promised that if BJP forms government in Punjab, it will scrap professional tax, waive property tax charges and waive fixed electricity charges to industrialists. Their priority will be to help industrialists get GST refund in a hassle-free manner, Sharma added.

Owing allegiance to various farmer bodies, the protesters burnt the effigies of the BJP-led government in Haryana for using "force" on farmers in Karnal.

Around 10 people were injured on Saturday as police allegedly lathicharged a group of farmers disrupting traffic movement on a national highway while heading towards Karnal to protest against a BJP meeting.

The two-hour-long agitation in Punjab that started at 12 noon also caused inconvenience to commuters, who got stuck in traffic snarls at several places.

The protest caused disruption of vehicular traffic at many places and affected routes along the Jalandhar-Pathankot highway, Ludhiana-Chandigarh highway, Amritsar-Ganganagar highway and Ferozepur-Zira road.

Kisan Sangharsh Mazdoor Committee general secretary Sarwan Singh Pandher strongly condemned the lathicharge on farmers by the Haryana police.

During a protest in Amritsar, Mr. Pandher said Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar should resign on moral grounds as he has no right to continue on the post after the police action on farmers.

The Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) staged protests at 56 places in the state and castigated the "shameful" act of the Khattar government.

Meanwhile, Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu also condemned the Haryana police action on farmers in Karnal.

"Deplorable assault on the protesting Farmers is an attack on Fundamental Rights of every Indian...earned after innumerable sacrifices during the freedom struggle, It impinges and impedes on the spirit of the Constitution and Breaks the Backbone of India's democracy!!" he said in a tweet and also shared a video of "use of force" by police on farmers in Haryana.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had expressed shock on Saturday at the "brazen brutality" of the Haryana police and had slammed Mr. Khattar for "unleashing such a vicious assault on the peacefully protesting farmers", many of whom were injured in the lathicharge.

British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan is keeping a keen eye on the recent farmers' protest in India, throwing his weight behind them and the Sikh community.

In a tweet, the boxer also shouted out members of the Sikh community who are seeking justice and "raising their voices around the world".

"Disturbing scenes of violence against peaceful farmers protesting for their rights. My support and solidarity are with them, as well as all of my Sikh brothers and sisters seeking justice and raising their voices around the world," Khan wrote on Twitter.

Thousands of Indian farmers have demonstrated against the laws introduced by the Modi-led government, arguing that they threaten their livelihoods.

Photos from India show hundreds of farmers camped out on the outskirts of New Delhi, blocking highways to show their resentment towards the government.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government claims the new laws are meant to overhaul antiquated procurement procedures and give growers more options to sell their produce.

However, farmers fear the legislation will eventually dismantle India’s regulated markets and stop the government from buying wheat and rice at guaranteed prices, leaving them to negotiate with private buyers.

They are calling for the government to repeal the laws and retain mandatory government purchases, among other demands.
