Not heard that before

According to the united states military the single most important factor to keeping muscle mass is preventing your body from cannibalizing it's own muscle to get the atp out of it. Which it does any time the brain does not have enough glucose.  The brain trumps muscle in the body hierarchy of needs.  And so if needed it will dump muscle to get at sugar in a heartbeat.  And the best way to prevent that is have a really stable and ample blood sugar. Which is readily achievable with the variety sugars in fruit.

They also no longer encourage rationing food for the same reason. They now recommend to eat enough of your food supplies to take care of your body's needs or no food at all and let it go into pure fat burning mode. Which it won't do if you eat anything.

the human body grows the quickest in the first year of life building mass at exponential rate , you would think then that breastmilk is protein heavy to do that, but it is not, it is : 3%--5% fat, 0.8%--0.9% protein, 6.9%--7.2% carbohydrate  , so it is clear that protein has been oversold as the reason muscle mass is growing . In fact , too much protein hikes up IG2 levels which is not good long term as it leads to insulin resistance and therefore knockon  symptoms like high cholestrol , high BP even diabetes , whey protein is notorious for this . Take your proteins as wholefoods plantbased  and the added fibre will lessen the spiking of insulin, additional plant minerals and amino acids will help with muscle recovery and firing , Remember the body will reutilise proteins from broken down cells with additional intake so the needs are not really that high , Gladiators and soldiers would eat barley to keep their body glucagon levels steady at a cheap price monetarily.

I've been having some very strong meat cravings the last few days though, been veggie since for nearly 5 years now, so not sure where these cravings came from. Really fancy a Doner Kebab or a nice chunky beef burger, but I'm obviously not going to lol.

Could be due to deficiencies. Start taking iron b12 supplements or any multivitamin.. Also eat quinoa, has complete protein

I'm pretty close to turning Vegan, the older i get the more by body disagrees with certain things, diary is pretty much at the top of the list, I've reduced my paneer intake (no easy thing in a Punjabi household) because i started getting severe headaches when eating it too often, i've gone over to plant/nut based milks, the only problem is Gulab Jamuns, damn that milk powder.

You should try the satvic diet as promoted by satvic movement youtube channel. Punjabis have big risk of diabetes..

Even more simple, why don't people just cut back on the sugar in their diet and excercise more.

Get your bloods done before and after and see if there are any changes.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
