Eating Beef

[puzzled]

Cow slaughter was banned under the Sikh empire, punishment for cow slaughter was death. 

Could be wrong but i think Singhs who eat meat they don't eat beef. 

Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale said that they respect the cow as it gives them milk, butter, yogurt etc but they don't worship it because it's just a animal. Only God is to be worshipped.

Guru jis did forbid halal/kuttha

 

Guru Gobind Singh forbids halal in the 4 Hahay Hs:

'na haraam, na halaal, na hukaah, na hajaamat'.

ਹਥਿ ਛੁਰੀ ਜਗਤ ਕਾਸਾਈ ॥ हथि छुरी जगत कासाई ॥ Hath cẖẖurī jagaṯ kāsā▫ī. in their hands they hold the knives - they are the butchers of the world! ਨੀਲ ਵਸਤ੍ਰ ਪਹਿਰਿ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ नील वसत्र पहिरि होवहि परवाणु ॥ Nīl vasṯar pahir hovėh parvāṇ. They draw lines around them, plastering the ground with cow-dung.   ਉਪਰਿ ਆਇ ਬੈਠੇ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ॥ उपरि आइ बैठे कूड़िआर ॥ Upar ā▫e baiṯẖe kūṛi▫ār. So tell me, what have you killed? ||2||

After doing some research the ban on beef in the Sikh empire had nothing to do with the Sikh belief. It was to gain Hindu support in Kashmir.

The Gurbani dictates that eating flesh of an animal/fish is forbidden. However, it says a million things are also forbidden. Unfortunately people take this as a t-total dictatorship when it is in fact a thought process which requires spiritual awakening. By stopping eating fish won’t do anything for you, nor will eating it - being reliant on killing and eating animals for the purpose of desire and greed is the intention. This is why Maharaj has clearly made his point about Jatkha meat. Don’t get bogged down with certain aspects and ignore the million others. Eat what you want, enjoy a full full life and drench yourself in shabad Amrit always.
