Back into education

Sangat ji, I was just wondering if anybody has experience going back into education in their 20's/30's?

I'm currently employed, but finding the working hours difficult and in these uncertain times, I'm grateful to even have a job. However, I can't see myself doing this these shifts for the long term. Realistically, It would take me around 4 years to retrain. With all things considered, I wondering if it is worth it?

hi

its always a good idea, but do your research first.

it depends on what kind of retraining you do.  you have to make sure you do something that will be of use to your aims, and wont be out of date by the time you complete it.  dont do something unnecessarily expensive or long when something less expensive or shorter would have done.  make sure you get the right kind of qualification from the right place, so that it is of 'worth' to your job market.

can you be more specific of the field?  there are specialist forums of people from each industry where you could get their advice on do's and don'ts.  try quora and reddit also.  but don't just believe one persons opinon- get a number of opinions and also make sure they are from people with recent experience in the role you want, not someone who left it ten years back or someone who didn't even work in that role.

You might consider quickly learning PLC and robot programming languages. Not hard. Just sounds hard.

Or learn kobold.

Those are both job security moving into the future.

You could self teach in no time.

I left college and then returned back after 6 years. Completed my computer science degree. Bad luck that i didn't like working in that field at all so went back to school (within months) and chose a total different field which i always liked but never pursued it seriously and completed my business degree.

You learn stuff in school for sure but you can learn it on your own with so many resources now available. If you are techie type then you can learn any software tool and get the job. If you prefer the traditional method of learning like going to school then that is fine as well.

Whatever you do, just make suure that is exactly where your mind is at etc etc..
