What’s the difference between the Sikh farmers and the luddites we had in the UK who didn’t want their mills change.
there were alot of Ludditues who lost their homes but the government decision  saved millions of jobs and improve the economy overall ??

sikh farmers aren't anti-techonology and farmining is not analogous to textile production, for a start.

in what kind of democracy can the government force agriculture landowners to act a certain way?  that sounds like some kind of communism.

Yes I didn’t mean exactly, but they seem to be against progress. I’m being the devils advocate here, I fully appreciate that their are families in Punjab that will lose out big time with this new law of Dehli however it does beg the question:

there are lots of current issues Punjab, there is a lot of waste of crop due to the current farming method. In a country with hundreds of millions under the poverty line this is unacceptable.

two there are dozens of suicides every year due to the pressure the Punjabi farmers face, not to mention all the depression and stress.

surely this new proposal will help ?

and to your point about communism, on the contrary this is capitalism through and through which is global.

Every developed nation has subsidies for farmers as there is a realisation of the importance of food security. The European Union has had a Common Agricultural policy for decades giving (often inappropriate) subsidies for food production similar in the USA where the system creates a need to use corn for everything and anything. This all seems senseless for the uneducated observer , but these subsidies exist for an important reason. They protect a nation, ultimately, from being held to ransom, they protect against famine, they are essential. The moves by India will ultimately eliminate subsidies and support- a market this free from restriction is not even acceptable in the West, and this is for good reason- its an experiment that will fail and claim many lives in the long term and short.

capitalism means you have a CHOICE what to do with your private land.  not the government enforcing something.  democracy implies your rights as a private citizen are respected, not traded off for corporate/government profits.

how does not wanting your land seized equate to anti-progress?

would you like the government to turn up tomorrow and grab a piece of your own home for a corporate enterprise to use at a reduced rate without your consent or choice?  after all, that would be progress- better economic use of space in your home...

the suicides are due to debt (they try and escape the financial consequences to their family from debt default by suicide).  there is also a high suicide rate with UK farmers.  this new government legislation is not a remedy for that problem.  please explain how this will help?  seizing their ;and/wealth will make the farmers feel happy?

True there is a reason the major developed nations have subsides for farmers. India used to import food. USA had to give Food aid to india back in the day. that is how back it was before the green revolution and Minimum price. If they don't take back the bills then the farmer wont starve to death but i am sure india will face a food shortage and people will die as a result.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
