Hi everyone, I am trying to learn more about Sikhism and had a question about the explanation of the history prior to the founding of Sikhi. Who were the Sikhs before Guru Nanak established Sikhi? Were they Hindus/Muslims that then accepted Sikhi as their new way of life? Also I understand the concept of reincarnation, but does this mean that the cycle of reincarnation started for those people when they decided to follow the Sikh path? Thank you in advance.

There were no sikhs before sikhi, it simply did not exist until the transition of the first guru, just like u did not exist before you were born.

We must remember that these were extremely turbulent & brutal times... murder, extortion, rape & other evil doings and this is where a new consciousness & dimension was formed.

This was a time of no modern luxuries & a complete misery mentally & physically.  If you were not born into extreme wealth or an influential family you were most likely to suffer in life.

Hindus believed in reincarnation thousands of years ago, many past spiritual leaders have touched on this issue.

All disciples were accepted into sikhi as it was the path of true love & freedom and it was seen as a shining beacon of light in the empty dark void.

There is not one negative teaching in sikhism that I have ever encountered! It is the path of the true, the humble & the righteous.

Any path that preaches love can not be wrong!
