What is the sangats view on people like Mundill Mahil?  do you accept her back into the community?  Should we? or shouldn't we? 

There was another lady from the West Midlands, who was in a relationship with a married Pakistani man. She then murdered her lovers teenage pregnant bride and ended up in jail. The Pakistani chap decided to go on Hajj and change his life, while the young lady decided to start wearing a Kara in prison. When she comes out should we as a community accept her back in ? like stand there with our arms wide open and say welcome back, lol.  

What's your say on this? Should we be forgiving and accepting? or no?

Yes, should always try to forgive. It depends on whether the person has genuinely changed and this will show in demeanour and actions usually

Some studious, straight-laced girls relish flirting with danger in order to escape their reserved and unexciting upbringing. This was usually the preserve of repressed middle-class white girls in the past, getting involved with guys from the so-called wrong side of the tracks. On some level they realise if they ever get in over their head, the benefit of the doubt will initially always be on their side. They can cry victim or feign oppression to weasel out of mistakes of their own making.

Now, apniyan seem to be jumping on the bandwagon. But whether these girls are Indian, white, black or whatever else, when it comes to settling down, the astute girls always seek the somewhat accomplished, successful guys with assets and resources. These girls have had their fun in their youth with the no-prospect losers; now they want stability and security that comes with these safe guys. These types of men are so utterly pathetic and lacking self respect, they swoop in to the rescue, and perpetuate a behaviour that would otherwise have been stamped out in previous generations through the potency of shame.

But what about traitors? For example the lady who murdered her Pakistani lovers pregnant bride? she actually converted to Islam and then became Sikh again. Shouldn't we be "alert" around someone like her? her priorities in the past obviously wasn't her community ...  

Most Sikhs are good people in general are very forgiving and accepting. We also end up easily trusting people.

It's an interesting point about forgiveness, I do wonder that had the guy that was killed been Sikh but had cut hair (or not even Sikh) would we look at the whole thing differently, anyway, i think that's a conversation for a different thread.

I think forgiving and accepting are two different things, in this case, for whatever wrong's Gagandip Singh did, he didn't deserve what happened to him, his family has to live with the face that they lost a son/brother in a terrible way, for them to forgive or accept is beyond reproach, for us as a society, it's different, accept them back yes but we're in no place or position to forgive.

When i was growing up there was a Sikh man who was in jail for manslaughter (he got drunk, lashed out at his wife, ended badly), the gurdwara i go to accepted him into the fold when he was released from prison (it was the mid 80's, i think he only served 10 years or so), this guy was always at the gurdwara, always doing seva, he felt spending time in jail wasn't enough to repent for what he has done, most of the sangat didn't bat an eyelid but you always got the few that would sit there judging him for what he did, i don't know if you would call that forgiveness or acceptance but him coming into the fold changed his life for the better, i think if he wasn't accepted he would have ended up a homeless drunk who would have been found dead in a gutter somewhere.

Yeah, we have a similar case in our local area. Punjabi guy tried killing his wife and came out of prison and started working in the local area, he was quite well known by everyone before he went to prison. Very friendly man!  I've spoken to him a few times since he came out of prison and I forget that he went to prison! Its like nothing happened and then I remember he tried killing his Mrs!  

Watched a documentary on one of the Sikh channels a few years back. A prison worker was explaining that when someone comes out of prison, assimilating back into society and socialising is a very important part of the recovery. She said its especially important for ethnic men, considering most Brown/Black men come from tight knit communities, religion and cultures, where acceptance and inclusion is very important. We kind of live in a community which is within the wider community. 

Its the same with addicts. When they come out of rehab, being accepted by their community is a very important part of the recovery.

When people start committing crime or doing drugs, they first distance themselves from their community, stop attending Gurdwara, family/religious events, and then distance themselves from their family.

Its when they come out of prison or rehab and are rejected by their communities, that's when they get back to anti-social behavior.

2. This whole story is really depressing. THREE thirsty Singhs basically had their lives ended or ruined. THREE thirsty Singhs. The real story is how desperate many Singhs are. I can't decide which of the three Singhs in the story is the most pathetic.

4. There is no excusing the behavior of Gagandip Singh and Harinder Shoker. But is it wrong to point out that they probably wouldn't have sunk to such depths if they weren't so thirsty and desperate for women? It reminds me of those stories of incel white kids going crazy and killing people.

The fact that this guy threw away his political career in order to marry her is example number 72,602,308 of how desperate singhs have become. (If you want to call this "trim singh" a "singh".) How thirsty and pathetic can one be?

I have noticed a trend of somewhat successful singhs gladly settling down with women who few other people want (because of a tarnished reputation, or because they are way past their "sell-by" date, etc.). Usually, when these women were younger and in demand, they would have never considered a singh. But after it becomes obvious that they are struggling to settle down (because of their various issues) and are getting old, they are happy to settle for a simp with a pagh as long as he has some status/money.

 

This Bola guy probably thought to himself: "I wear a turban (and can't do a decent job tying it), and I am overweight and kind of ugly. But somehow a girl is talking to me! Isn't this amazing?! I should marry her!! Who cares if it kills my career? It will totally be worth it!!!"
