Should we still use the Khanda Symbol?

From what I heard it was kind of formulated from letters. Sikhs from foreign countries used to send letters back home that had different variations of the modern day Khanda. After a while it became to what we have today and became the standard.

Here's an example 13252741_1914khalsajathalogo.jpg.b760739ab017838ff012828752709357.jpg

I think the topic is great but we don't have all the info.

Here is a good resource with quite a few installments.

Wow! Lots of pics: I think it was first coat of arms and then slowly evolved to chakar with a khanda in the middle with variations as time went on

What are some opinions regarding possibly switching back to the puratan Nishan Sahib?

Something I liked mentioned on the museum site was that the Khanda and Nishan Sahib change and nothing is keeping it from changing again in a new or old direction.

Seems like there is a lot of support here for the Purtan Nishan Sahib.

Should non-religious (outwardly and usually lifestyle) Sikhs be encouraged to have tattoos and chains etc? Will they more likely take up Sikhi properly if encouraged ?

I support the current khanda and i think we should stay with it.

The current khanda likely had british origin. If we switched back to the original, it could be viewed as a symbolic "cutting ties with the British". I also think that ik onkar can better represent Sikhi

Now is especially not the time to do it as much more research is required and will be very controversial.

Agreed, now is not the best time to do it, but it should be researched soon. It will always be controversial however i think.

I wouldn't mind a nishan sahib with puratan symbols or an ik onkar

Khanda has become like a brand.

When you it displayed like above it is very cringeworthy
