History Behind Rehraas Sahib

Anyone know the history behind the compilation of Rehraas Sahib. Was just wondering because to my knowledge it wasn't written by Guru Sahib explicitly as it was a compilation of many different banis. Also if someone should shed some light on the history behind why there are different versions, I know the British shortened Chaupai Sahib...

Not an expert. Can't see how that would be bad though.

Yeah I have done it a few times that way careless of what people thought, and I don't know either how it can be bad

but apparently some folks believe it to be manmat to be adding bani onto rehraas

Still listening to Katha on it. From what I can read, sgpc added chapuai sahib. 

I've yet to find anything in Gurbani to disuade you from reciting full Anand Sahib. I'll keep looking and if I find something I'll tell you bro. But I have a feeling after two hours of Katha the answer is going to be the same.
