Was watching a documentary about Irish gypsies/travelers and some of them were wearing Rolex watches, proper thick gold chains around their necks and living in huge houses! when their grandfathers probably lived in caravans! while their ancestors were probably hunted down and executed!      our identity/status shifts every couple of generations.  funny little thing it is.

Really amazing to think about. Also, had no idea that some Sodhi's are considered Jat now.

This passage is about the Udasi and Nirmala order. This comes from another book called "Panjab Caste" in 1916 by Sir Denzil Ibbetson using census data. Looks like the Udasi order rejected Sri Guru Dasam Granth Ji. Most of those individuals assimilated into Hinduism whilst many joined the mainstream Sikhi at that time.  

 

 

On the contrary, the Nihangs during this time were a major minority, only making up around 547 Akaalis in the Panjab during that time.
