How to pronounce this

How do I pronounce that symbol, what sound is it?  Under the word klchray, under the L and Cha.

Kal(y)uchrai....It's a "yayya" in the "pair" of Lalla, combined with an aunkard. Don't stress the "y" part too much, just slightly when transitioning from "kal" to "uchrai". For the listener it should sound like you are pronouning it "kal-uchrai".

 

Side note, anyone know how to add use gurmukhi fonts in messages here?

I use sikhi to the maxx to copy gurbani but i dont think theres a font in the forum for gurmukhi script. If you are on your phone, you can maybe use a gurmukhi keyboard...

The symbol is called a Yakash. It is a ਪੈਰ ਯੱਯਾ, older version of half ਯੱਯਾ "੍ਯ". In handwritten birhs, this used to be of a hook shape and font makers blindly copied. However it seems STTM is using an updated font that shows this ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹ properly.

The uchaaran is: ਕਲਿਅੁਚਰੈ (Think of it as ਕਲ੍ਯੁਚਰੈ)

Another example is:

Uchaaran would be ਲਖਿਅਣ

You add a sihari " ਿ " to the base akhar and then add an "ਅ" after it in ucharan.
