Why are so many people against it nowadays? I dont see much controversial about this, other than if some people claim that this is the only way to recite complete swaroop Guru Sahib, or those who say it "enhances" the effect of shabad which would imply that akhand paath is inferior. Unless someone is paying a paathi to do one for something in particular (same thing happens with akhand paaths) and they dont even listen to it and thus treat sri guru granth sahib as a wish genie of mantras; otherwise I dont anything offensive if a person does it themselves or at least with shardaa. Why do some people regard this method of gurbani recitation as beadbi? WaHeguru jio.

It might be the interruption that concerns people? I don't find it a problem in a private setting, though. It's kind of like sharing your intentions throughout reading Bani by reciting the sampat shabad.

but its not really interruption as long as you dont start doing japji sahib in middle of a shabad

if you complete the shabad/or salok THEN read a sanpat shabad, I wouldn't really see it as an interruption

interruption is something like stopping at "dusht dokh te lehu bachaae" and not completing the full kabiyo baach benti chaupaee

do you think people are more offended by people doing specific sanpat shabad for specific wishes or desires (for maya, family peace, business, child, etc.) as a kind of brahmanical ritual? but that applies to akhand paath as well?

Das had the good fortune to do some seva in a sanpat paath a few years back. I was just on the japji raul and we had to do aukhi ghari shabad. I have to say it was amazing in the sense my mind was fully into it as you have to be fully engaged. My mind was fully focused for those 2 hours and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it (obv still a long way to go). Its a great way to get your dhyaan in check,  both reciting the japji pauri, then the shabad and remembering your place is etc leaves no room for the mind to wander. Whereas normal my mind would wonder reciting japji as I knw the paath.

It was a Nanaksar Gurdwara and the satkar they gave to Guru Sahib was really something else.

But I know some ppl frown on this possibly due to it being different from an Akhnad Paath. And obv some have exploited things with extra cost for ppl to have a paath done, but thats the same for the traditional Akhand paaths too.

I think the more bani read the better. It isnt to replace a normal Akhand Paath, everything has its place.

The method of using shabads in this way is actually a puratan technique which was used in taksaals or amongst Gursikhs for abhiyaas. Ie for mool mantar one can recite:

Vaheguru x 4 (or x 8 )

Ik Onkar

Vaheguru x 4

SatNam

Vaheguru x 4

And so on for the whole mool mantar paath. It doesn't mean the bani is being changed but simply ways to get ikagar man , focussed mind.

waheguru ji completely agree

doesn't seem like I have found any virodhis of sanpat paath, as I dont see any vice in it either

it is I assume highly recommended that one does paath themselves rather make this into kirt for paathis? would you agree?

so a japji raul wouldn't replace japji sahib recited in panj bania

it is only a method of reading bani to be implemented in ADDITION to nitnem as far as I understand?

I used to have this habit a bit back in childhood, not really sampat, but I used to get into waheguru jaap while doing japuji shib after maha mantar when i get to "...jap...." before moving onto rest of japji sahib

would this be manmat as I "input" waheguuru jaap into gurbani at my own will

I think it would be manmat if you tried to make everyone do it that way.

I Naam Jaap while reading english translations of SehajPath.

If Naam has become so continual that some hearts beat Vaheguru how could you not have Vaheguru Naam Jaap infused one way or another, more or less obvious, into Nitnem?
