Not how I would spend the money, but come on...she can put a fence on her house. 1.4 mil isn't what it used to be.

I am surprised with the OP, especially with the amount of great content they share on this forum. Like @GurjantGnostic stated above, $1.4 mil isn't exactly out of reach these days. That's the average home price of many  Punjabi families living in the Lower Mainland here is BC ( even with Usd to Cdn conversion!).

A Black lady bought a house that looks like a barn and put a fence up...and the media treats it newsworthy. We definitely don't need to support this racist journalism.

I don't really want to get into this type of debate but i think the problem was not that it was a 1.4 mil house but instead the possibility that the money donated to blm is possibly being used by them

If that's the case say that and maybe it can be discerned. Fiscal transparency across the board for everybody. 

But that wasn't said explicitly nor substantiated. Conveniently allows it to be inferred if one wishes. May not be the case at all.

I think that's because they either manage to rise up to some prominence, and thus become leaders or spokespeople, or, they make a big splash and the establishment comes in and buys them off openly or covertly and gets them dependent on money controlled by the very establishment they seek to resist. The rarest scenario is someone makes a splash and a truly benevolent benefactor rewards them. Almost never happens and when it does is usually a charade. 

If you got something truly good going the first thing you'd have to watch out for is getting bought out of doing good, or fiscally controlled.  That's why people like stronghold don't take certain amounts of money, and only take it from certain people in certain circumstances, and they restrict their growth and operational budget to never exceed a certain size which would leave them dependent.
