Melbourne man jailed over extortion campaign targeting kids.

Ranpati Amarasinghe pressured an 11-year-old girl he met online into sending him child abuse material and later uploaded the content to a porn site in order to blackmail her.

When the girl blocked him, Amarasinghe messaged her from new accounts, threatening to pass on the abuse content to her friends and family if she did not comply with his demands for even more material.

Her mother begged the 24-year-old, who often posed online as “John”, to stop, saying she feared her daughter might take her own life because of the trauma he had inflicted upon her.

But he told her that he hoped she did just this.

Amarasinghe on Wednesday faced the Victorian County Court, where he was sentenced to a total 13 years and six months in jail.

The Sri Lankan national pleaded guilty to 25 child abuse material offences relating to six girls aged 11 to 17, including four in the United States, one in the United Kingdom and one in Australia, from November 2018 to June 2020….

“Get ready to be ruined,” Amarasinghe told one girl.

“I’m ruining your life and you don’t give a s*** - you’re a f***ing <banned word filter activated>.”

Judge Douglas Trapnell said Amarasinghe had been on a cruel and perverted mission to completely destroy people’s lives.

The 24-year-old’s “insidious” and “chilling” actions left the girls and their families devastated by extreme trauma, he added.….

Amarasinghe, once a promising a cricketer, had watched porn online from the age of 11, struggled to develop intimate relationships and had a “fragile self-esteem”, the court was told.

He was arrested in September 2020.

“Sextortion, also known as image-based abuse, is a form of blackmail where someone threatens to share intimate images of you online unless you give in to their demands,” Australian Federal Police detective acting superintendent Aaron Hardcastle said in a statement following the sentencing.…

Amarasinghe must serve at least eight years and six months behind bars before he is eligible for parole.

Disgusting! Just a while back, I read about a newly immigrated Panjabi man in Australia caught in a similar case with a young white girl. He was actively involved in a Gurdwara and female attendees there always found him suspicious.

Seems to be a slow rise in these cases occurring where the perpetrators are Desis.

Muhammad Rasheed jailed for sexually abusing teenager amid hundreds of sextortion charges

Key points:

  • Muhammad Zain Ul Abideen Rasheed has been jailed for more than five years
  • He also allegedly acted as a teenage social media celebrity to befriend girls
  • His lawyer said he had an "obsessive sexual interest in young females"

The court heard the 26-year-old was born in Pakistan and had migrated to Australia aged five with his family, who were described as deeply religious and strict.

Mr Andrews said Rasheed faced significant cultural issues that had impaired the development of his social skills, particularly his dealings with females.

He said those issues, including feeling lonely, had led to Rasheed's "unhealthy obsession" with pre-pubescent girls, which he now planned to address through counselling.

This was a well known case in Australia

Gang rapist whose sickening crimes shocked Australia is seen for the first time in 21 years as he swaps prison for family home near the site of one of his atrocities - and he still refuses to apologise to the women he attacked

  • Notorious Sydney gang rapist Mohammed Skaf has walked out of jail on parole and arrived at mother's house
  • Skaf, 38, spent two decades in prison for his involvement in two rapes in 2000 and show no remorse
  • His brother Bilal, now 40, is still behind bars for his role in the rapes and cannot be released before 2033
  • The pair and a dozen other young men raped at least six women in four attacks that terrorised Sydney
  • Their sister said her family was excited and happy Mohammed was coming home after so long in jail

Notorious pack rapist Mohammed Skaf has been released from prison after serving two decades behind bars to go home to his parents, with hopes of starting a family of his own.

Skaf left Sydney's Long Bay correctional complex on Wednesday morning after spending most of his life in custody and having never publicly expressed remorse for his crimes.

He walked from the Metropolitan Special Programs Centre about 9.45am wearing a white Hugo Boss top, black track pants, sunglasses and Covid-19 mask before stepping into a Toyota Corolla driven by a Corrective Services officer.

image.png.8762e9db03bd9403a034ca57eafb4953.pngSkaf wore an ankle monitor as he walked out of prison, as his strict parole conditions include 24-hour electronic tracking

He was driven to his family's home at Greenacre in Sydney's south-west where he will live with his parents, sister and younger brother.

Shouts of excitement could be heard from the house when he arrived and Skaf's mother embraced him after he walked through the front door.

Three boxes of Skaf's belongings were carried inside by Corrective Services officers.

Skaf has remained unrepentant during his time in custody.

'I'm not a rapist,' he said two years ago after yet again being refused parole. 'How can I have empathy for someone that wasn't raped by me?

'I've maintained my innocence for the last 19 years and I'll maintain my innocence until the day I die.'

Skaf has supposedly accepted some responsibility for his actions since he made those comments and indicated a wish to get married, have children, find a job and study architecture.

When he was first locked up as a teenager there was no Facebook or Instagram and no smart phones. The World Trade Centre was still standing and John Howard was not even halfway through his four terms as prime minister.

'The world has changed,' Skaf said in 2019. 'I'm still living in the early 2000s.'

Skaf was one of gang of Lebanese-Australian youths led by his older brother Bilal who went on a rampage of pack rapes in Sydney's south-west in the weeks leading up to the 2000 Olympic Games.

At least six women and girls were held against their will and repeatedly sexually assaulted in four attacks that shocked Australia and raised racial tensions to fever pitch in NSW.

One woman was raped 25 times by 14 attackers at three locations as she was called an 'Aussie pig' in an ordeal that lasted six hours.

Skaf, who was convicted in relation to two of the rapes, was 17 at the time of the offences and is now 38. His brother Bilal was almost 19 and is now 40.

Original sentencing judge Michael Finnane, who jailed Mohammed for 32 years in October 2002, described the gang's crimes as 'worse than murder'.

Following a series of further convictions and appeals that term was reduced to a maximum of 22 years, 11 months and 30 days.

Skaf's non-parole period on 16 years, 11 months and 30 days expired on January 1, 2018, more than three and a half years ago.

His maximum sentence does not expire until January 1, 2024 but due to due to Covid-19 restrictions he has been unable to complete pre-release external leave programs.

If Skaf served his full term in prison authorities would have had no control over his reintegration back into the community when he finally got out.

A decision was therefore made to grant Skaf parole so he could be closely supervised while living with his family....

Mother, 41, who sexually assaulted another woman while she was unconscious after smoking cannabis pipe 'laced with Spice' avoids jail

Michelle Robson (pictured), 41, from North Shields has kept her freedom after sexually assaulted another woman who had passed out after smoking cannabis pipe 'laced with spice'.

Michelle Robson, 41, has been put on the the sex offenders register after she lowered the jeans of an unconscious victim and touched her.

The North Tyneside resident said that voices were 'encouraging' her to do so.

When the victim awoke during the act and asked what she was doing, Robson claimed she had been 'confused' and said she thought she had been touching her own partner, who was a man.

Newcastle Crown Court heard the victim had gone to a house to buy cannabis that day and was offered a 'pipe', which she accepted without realising it had been 'laced with Spice', which caused her to lose consciousness.....

Robson, 41, of, North Shields, North Tyneside, admitted sexual assault.

Miss Recorder Geraldine Kelly said it was a 'shameful' offence.

She added: 'It was carried out on a victim who was helpless at the time and vulnerable because of the state she was in.'

The judge said the victim must have felt 'humiliated, degraded and frightened'.

But she added there was an 'element of coercion' and Robson was in an abusive relationship and vulnerable herself at the time.

The court heard Robson has made progress since the offence and hopes to achieve her HGV licence.

She was sentenced to a community order for three years with rehabilitation requirements and £87 costs.

She has to sign the sex offenders register for five years.

Spice is garbage. No joke.

Sex offender jailed after we traced him in Canada

A man has been jailed for child sex offences after we tracked him down to a mechanic’s workshop in Canada and brought him back to face justice.

Mohammed Schwitters, from Birmingham, sexually abused a child over a period of seven years starting when the girl was just 10-years-old.

Mohammed Schwitters Jailed - Mohammed Schwitters

It happened between 2010 and 2017 and we arrested Schwitters when the offences were reported to us in 2017.

Schwitters, aged 55, skipped the country during our investigation – but officers from our Public Protection Unit worked tirelessly over the next three years to track him down.

We finally caught up with him on 1 September 2020 - working together with the Canadian Authorities - we tracked the mobile phone number and bank accounts he used to a mechanic’s workshop in Toronto.

He was extradited back to the UK and appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on the 10 December 2021 where he pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual assault on a child, three counts of attempted rape and three counts of assault by penetration.

And on today (Friday 4 March), Schwitters was jailed for 18 years; he will remain on the Sex Offender Register for life.

Detective Constable Kat Sands said: “This case really highlights how we take reports of sexual abuse very seriously and will work with survivors, help get them the support they need, and work with them to bring offenders to justice.

“It is never too late to report sexual abuse and we will leave no stone unturned to get justice.

“While this sentence can never undo what happened, I hope the victim will find some comfort in knowing justice has been served.”

If you have been affected by this report and find this upsetting, or if you just want to talk to someone, The Survivors Trust is there for you. Call them on 08088 010818.
