Depending upon what nation you live in, you should consult with a bike shop or a group that is into cycling as a group. As I am from Canada I drive a Norco Road Bike since the last few years. It is light compare to other bikes. In the past I was riding a hybird bike prior to that it was a Mountain bike. The Saddles I am not sure what you are talking about but we have saddles that you pay extra just for your comfort.

Thinking of taking up cycling

I haven't cycled in years but there are some nice places with nice scenery nearby and though I love walking/hiking, it can be a bit far for a walker.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a decent bike.

I am not interested in those racing cycles. If anyone in the UK can attest to , those goreh love their racing cycles dressed up in their lycra and during the summer and the weekends, these cyclists are riding in troops and hog up the roads which can be annoying.

Are there any keen cyclists on the forum? I used to enjoy cycling as a kid

Goreh are the same as you. They're not a different species. Humans are equal, all created and loved by God.
