Don't think that means much, I've not heard of it before.

It's a lot easier relatively, for international students to gain places to study because they pay high fees which is profitable for the institution. Indians just want an international education for the prestige, it doesn't matter really how good the degree is

I'm talking about the ahhm junta I meet. I rarely meet a desi apna with intellectual curiosity.

I think schools/higher institutions encourage rote learning in India rather than 'thinking'. 'Thinking' is probably more limited to the very elite/exclusive prestigious private schools, although at least some Punjabi politicians have attended these schools

Very few Punjabis seem to gain international roles/prominent positions in Business or other fields in which a high educational level is usually needed, or even within India itself. This includes Hindu Punjabis.

I know his family have dodgy history (well, all the powerful families seem to be intertwined in Punjab) and he's of the other party, but Bikram Singh Majithia comes across through his speeches and interviews, as a highly intelligent man.

Navjot Sidhu is obviously quick-witted from what I see. I have heard he would not be a popular choice as leader however, because his father defended the enemies of the Kharkhus. Cannot find much info on google about this, anyone know more ?

I've been uni a few times. I noticed that often the children of politicians of some importance, get passed, regardless of brains. It's like a political arrangement.

He only got a 2:2 and possibly changed to an easier course.

It might not be in an institution's interests to not 'play the game' as they could get threats of losing funding, jobs, etc. In India, you can pay bribes (allegedly)

Hi,
I was shocked to learn that Prince Charles only achieved a B and C in his A-levels to get into Trinity College, Cambridge. Apparently it was even recommendation by a Lord that enabled him to secure a place there. i.e a word with the college dean.

Prince Charles went up to Cambridge University in 1967 to read Archaeology and Anthropology. He changed to History for the second part of his degree and was awarded a 2:2 in 1970. The Prince is seen here leaving the Senate House after the presentation ceremony of his Master’s degree.

That was over 50 years ago. Thankfully this practice has now ended in the UK, you have to have the grades to get into Oxford and Cambridge.

I think the 'elite' still have favoritism, but they need to get the grades

BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Saturday asked Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Congress’ state unit chief Navjot Singh Sidhu to clarify if they have endorsed naming 1984 anti-Sikh riots accused Jagdish Tytler as a permanent invitee to the Delhi Congress’ new executive committee.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) also lodged a strong protest over the issue.

He said Sidhu had himself confessed that he barely escaped the anti-Sikh riots in 1984 and now he feels proud of being a leader of the Congress, Chugh said.

He said all Sikh leaders, including Channi and Sidhu, owe an explanation to the people of Punjab for being part of the Congress, which had brought about heinous cases of murder and killings against the Sikhs in 1984.

It’s like rubbing salt into wounds of Sikhs: SGPC

AMRITSAR: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Bibi Jagir Kaur strongly condemned to the appointment of Tytler, saying it has hurt the sentiments of Sikhs. “Giving political positions time and again to the main accused of killing thousands of innocent Sikhs in November 1984 is direct support to the murderers by the Congress. It’s like rubbing salt into the wounds of Sikhs on the anniversary genocide,” she said.

‘Why didn’t Sidhu object to Tytler’s appointment’

Faridkot: Youth Akali Dal (YAD) president Parambans Singh Romana on Saturday asked state Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu why he had not objected to the appointment of 1984 riots accused Tytler’s appointment to the Congress panel. Romana also asked chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi to clarify his stand on the issue.

    • Lol. Way to be late to the party there Ravi.
    • The liberal mafia attacking Amaan Baali because he committed the ultimate sin of standing up for the Sikh community in Kashmir and told the truth of the grooming of Sikh girls. Let's look at the background of these liberals who are now attacking Amaan. Monica Gill - failed model latched on to the Farmers agitation in order to gain more exposure and credibility. On the grooming of the Sikh girls in Kashmir she was solidly on the side of the paedophiles. She promoted the Quint narrative that the Sikh girl was an adult even when the paedophile admitted that he had started to target her when she was 12/13. Her sister apparently 'researched' the grooming of Sikh girls in Kashmir and found 'no evidence'!  Ravi Singh KA - we all know about him and his liberal agenda and his main focus on using the Panth's money to help our enemies and gain him a Nobel prize.  This Angadh Singh Khalsa guy - another liberal mupp.et using the Sikh identity to further the cause of the Jihadis. here's an article about him- his main claim to fame- being a dhimmi and helping in the Kashmiri plan to turn Kashmir into an Islamic state like Afghanistan. What could possibly go wrong for Kashmiri Sikhs when that happens? His views on the grooming of Sikhs - he is 'nuanced'! How Kashmir's Fraught Political Journey Led a Young Sikh Man Into Activism (thewire.in) You can judge the value of a person to the Panth by knowing the background of the people  who are attacking him.
    • Is that Surrinder Shinda in the video?
    • There is a new Muslim bhangra singer from UK called Raf Saperra. Not only has he made a music video where he is lusting after and flirting with a Sikh girl who has a prominently displayed kada, but the song has been produced by so called Sikh Sukhshinder Shinda and the background of the video is full of so called Sikhs wearing kaday, egging on the Muslim singer to flirt with the Sikh girl and sing about her lustfully. Astonishingly there is an old Baba with a long white dhari and white dastaar in the video as well.  I have not seen one comment on the YouTube page that is concerned about this. I have also noticed that as part of his image in general this singer has avoided highlighting he is a Muslim, only reluctantly alluding to being from West Pakistan during an interview when asked.  Instead our so called Sikh people are all backing him up and featuring in his videos wearing huge kaday while holding alcohol bottles. There is a blurring of lines here with regards to identity which is normally used by this group to take advantage of our people. Our own people are stupidly helping this cause.   There are a few of his bhangra videos which also feature smoking (Muslim Pakistani  culture) which will probably confuse Apne thickos into thinking this is now a normal part of our own culture. They are making bhangra videos without making it clear they are Muslims and subtly putting their own culture into it. What has happened to these people's zameer?   This is the video.
