Tomorrow we start Amrit Vela Challenge 40 days. Please dont forget to log your time in the sheet. If this initiative works, plan to have more such initiatives in the future. The main goal is to get sangat together. Sangat factor will act as a motivation to others develop Amrit Vela and stay consistent. We can do all the talking, discussions on forums and theoretical study, but without practical study we are not getting anywhere. Bhul Chuk Maaf _/\_

Correct Veer Ji, As grihisthi we try to follow 3-6. However if some is able wake up before 3am, they can log that time in google sheet. I was hoping for heavy participation in this program. Sadly, the participation is less. I guess its for few reasons:

1) Some ppl want to keep confidential their amrit vela, those who are already established. I request everyone to join as it creates a sangat effect. Helping others to wake up at Amrit vela is a paropkari mission and one that is considered very high. We have few members who are not able to wake up and need motivation.

2) Second category are those only interested in discussions, argument. But shy away from practical practice. The group does not preach anything. Except wake up at Amrit Vela and do Naam Jap. So please join.

I like your post here. I already do it every day at 12:30am. Would be good if you could allow people to join as anonymous?

To add to my previous post, Amrit vela naam simran is required. Discipline and going deep within is required (although each person/ being has a choice/ freedom of choice and noone is forced or pushed into it).

When we begin to do that, we begin to learn the reality of the world around us. What we learn having gone deep within, we apply to your daily everyday life. We may have visions, darshans in samadhi. They show that we are on the right path and serve as encouragement to move further down the path (bhagti/ straight and narrow path). Blind faith is also a great test, the visions and darshans are symbolic, in reality, Sat has no form, colour etc. Applying the first lines of Gurbani to your life, not lying, speaking, serving and delivering Truth, and applying gurbani to your life is also required to move further up the path. those who are Serious about the path do their simran/ samadhi, apply gurbani and flourish. The path is simple, it just takes discipline, strength (a warrior spirit), love etc.

We are doing 2nd Amrit Vela challenge starting Nov. 01. This one is Anonymous in that you dont need to log your time or anything, but need to make a commitment that you will wake up and if you fail then you do an extra Jap Ji Sahib. The whole idea behind this group is to motivate sangat & myself to manage Amrit Vela, as this forms the foundation of Sikhi.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
