They even mentioned below; which by the way now completely showing the purpose of “such study” and article written by non-Sikh author.

One of the most sensitive issues the report tackles is grooming. The report found that the widely held perception within the community that the majority of victims of sexual abuse were exploited by non-Sikh grooming gangs is false. This finding in particular has led to a backlash against the report’s authors.

Why not use the term Asian in the headlines? Oh wait that is reserved for the worst kind of criminals Muslim headlines.

These kinds of reports are good to get funds from councils and the government for an organisation and get on the NGO gravy train.

Look, we have to face up to abuse within the community ourselves, or this is exactly how it will be exploited by outsiders. 

Most of us (with brains) can probably figure out that this report has been specifically timed to undermine Sikhs highlighting targeted grooming by certain communities against ours. What they are trying to say to us is: Stop talking about the sullay grooming gangs and concentrate on yourselves. 

Yet again we have that narrative of oppressive, misogynistic brown man, oppressing females of his own community. 

Again though, I reiterate: We have to face up to and deal with sexual and domestic abuse within the community. At uni I was told by an expert (a long while ago) that it is more common than we think in all communities. I think Mohan Singh of SAS has started pioneering work in dealing and facing up to this as a community.   From a personal perspective, I think we are (or at least were) a 'hands on' community when it comes to child rearing and slaps and beating weren't uncommon. I don't think it is remotely like it used to be these days though.

At least half of the women in my parents' generation have had thaparh from their husband at least once (not condoning it btw!)

And how many visa versa? Which nobody talks about. A blind eye is turned to the entire littany of abusive female behaviors and they even have the balls and stupidity to try to box dudes?

The fact is the entire family unit is dismantled and full of abuse and protecting us from the abuse of women is even harder to do as it usually is far more psychological and verbally abusive, financially abusive, and they control the narrative with kids, and some of the your daddy left stories are real, and a whole lot more the woman ommits the lengths she went to run the dude off and make him sound no good after using him up. 

Frank Zappa called it the Al Bundy agenda. 

The timing of publishing is intentional I agree.

this stupid braindead musli seems to forget that the survey was NOT a total survey of all sikh women , only a small proportion of them, and that also the small group had an even smaller group complaining of one event or more of violence or abuse , the abuse was then broken down into further categories . How she has written it seems to imply seventy percent of sikh women are abused and that is a blatant fabrication. She needs taking down a peg .

BTW since when is  verbal abuse the same as physical or sexual abuse ? it is not also the article pumps this big 70% when it is not even specific to spousal abuse although she highlights a case of murder when the guy sounds like a hindu Anil Gill. I am so done with the Guardian's fake wokeness it is just another govt battering ram against sikhs

I heard an audio recording of a man get home from work, get blamed for every problem the family faced, get humiliated for his meger best and it ends with a single gun shot. Last thing you hear before it is what a loser he is and the next thing is wife wailing and calling out to God. 

I served with dudes who shot thenselves too having signed up for their families, then suffering abuse at home and not liking the military, you add that to fat life insurance and men will choose to blow their head off in their closet wrapped up in a sweatshirt so they can leave the least mess and the most money. From verbal abuse and life pressures. 

I agree that physical and sexual abuse are rampant, especially since invasion, and that women suffer from it disproportionately, but all abuse is abuse and one of them has no laws against it.

When no distinction is made between the types of violence women are actually qualified as being more violent. Middle school girls being the most violent demographic. 

Again it is rightfully eclipsed by the severity of physical and sexual abuse. Just saying it's still a problem.

And that's even more true conversely when it comes to daughters. 

Moral of the story? We need to really dig deep, heal, and treat each other with far more respect in the family unit. 

And work together towards the right things. 

For the children. And the future.
