Forget stats man, gauge by your own personal experience. Many Panjabis DRINK. And it starts young with males. A lot of bonding happens around it, as well as pointless fights. 

A lot of old men seem to anesthetise themselves on Famous Grouse.

Yes Punjabis drink but non-Punjabis drink more than Punjabis

Do you think maybe Panjabis drink the hard stuff in bottles more? Desi, whiskey etc. The others might be like goray who like beers/lagers etc.?

It is important we don't poison ourselves as a Paanth.

A culture revolving around alcohol and kaam is not at all compatible with Gurmat. 

Sikhi removes and replaces class and culture, and trumps them all. 

Let's flip this. I know it must suck to be a part of the majority of Sikhs who's class and culture, predominates the discussion, albeit they are not alone, simply the largest demographic. 

Thinking of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhinderwale Shaheed and his demonstration, isn't it appropriate and fitting for us to promote within the Jatt community, all communities, abstinance from alcohol and other toxins, and the sexual success offered by a Gurmat lifestyle and Anand Karaj? To be healthy and have family values, generational thinking, regardless of who they are now or once were? Our place is to have that ourselves and offer to help other people have it too according to their traditions, advised by Sat Guru. We can't be consultants if our affairs are a mess. 

We should be encouraging all cultures to abstain from alcohol, to the small degree we have a voice in their ear. Alcohol use among Sikhs should be the lowest on the planet. Broken families, domestic problems, and irresponsible lifestyles are things we should be known for conquering largely due to our efforts, the assistance of the Sangat and most importantly Har Kirpa. 

If the world under influence of Kalyug can mess with Jatts, influence, undermine, intoxicate, misrepresent them enough, through bollywood etc, and get them paying attention to the wrong things, you can undermine a very potent 60 percent of the Sikh Paanth as well as take any number of other Sikhs with them. 

If I were a Jatt. I would be concerned about the narrative being woven around the culture of my ancestors, or my current culture if I were not a Sikh. 

Just because alcoholism has long effected your people doesn't make it culture. It's a disease. People used to live with lice for generations too, I'd hate to keep associating with it. 

Believe me, my previous culture knows full well the destructive nature of alcohol, it's use as a weapon, and one of the ways it is used as such, is to replace a broken and destroyed actual culture. 

Alcohol kills even the microbes that make it. It cares not for you at all. 

The percentage of crimes, drug addictions, accidents, health problems that all originate at this one culturally promoted mass media mother of all addictions is staggering. 

It's industrial solvent. It's the single most <banned word filter activated> drug on the planet, going head to head with meth. While afeem sits back on the nod taking a glamorous third place early out due to overdose, and all the coke heads point and laugh and talk endlessly but say little. 

You know how shitty it feels to live in a country where the only business your people are known for is alcohol? One of our two holidays is a drunken <banned word filter activated> show degrading bits of our semi authentic remaining imagery? Instead of a Gurudwara I have a pub? Being expected by idiotic narrative ..word of mouth...to basically be an alcoholic?

It would almost seem like somebody intentionally destroyed my previous culture and left us with a glass in hand.

I've grown up around Panjabis and the Irish, we have similar issues in this department - I'd even say it is even worse with Panjabis who prefer the hard stuff over pints.  

It's basically game over for any people who get into that stuff. 

Ireland should have legalized it straightway. Replace alcohol, boost tourism, create a hardy export. The jails would have to downsize.

I don't have any drinkers in my family (of my first cousins and parents siblings). All the weddings that I've been to, there's never been any open consumption of alcohol, the only consumption of alcohol was in the carparcks away from everyone so no one can see it. 

Even a lot of my Punjabi mates here, most of them don't have open drinkers, they've never seen a family member get openly drunk.
