Having mental illness in the Sikh community

Hi everyone, I’m not sure if anyone else has mental illnesses or issues but I’m diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety. I think I have BPD too to an extent but never got that tested. Anyway does anyone else have any mental health problems. Don’t you feel that the Sikh community literally does not care at all if you’re struggling mentally and instead hide it or look down on you or pretend you don’t exist? For example a lot of Punjabi parents will straight up deny the existence of depression. I think this isn’t good because it octracises like 5% of our population…

I've had illnesses before. Yeh Punjabis can be absolute assh*es I've found.  Some only care about money and status, my family are a prime example of this. A bunch of wannabes who only speak to people if there's something in it for them/ make them look better. Total losers and weirdos, without understanding the concept of being a Humanitarian. Thats the Real Mental Illness.

F*ck the people who don't get it/ ostracise people with issues and get better.

Sorry to hear that. I suspected the BPD. Regular simran can definitely help with the ADHD and anxiety though.

Get help, but be real careful of mentally confining/defining yourself with these DSM manual diagnosis labels, which is a very western thing. It's just an issue you have work on and address. You will make progress if you persist.

I think these days people with such issues are in an infinitely better position than previously in terms of support too, there are usually whole forums and some useful youtube videos to help. There is no need to feel isolated in this respect.

Panjabis don't really acknowledge these things because of macho culture and probably rampant sociopathy which makes it biologically impossible for many to feel any empathy.
