yeh i think it good. Look if someone wears a skirt, the commities in UK tell them not to ear it again.

women/girls of all age come to gurdwara with some massive hair style and there dapata/chuni is covering the back of there jori and non of there haed is covered. no.gif

or they wear wat they call a chuni/dapatta which is more like a net curtain they pulled down from home and died some colour  @

Shouldn't it be common sense on how to dress when you meet your Guroo Jee? You should be dressed with elegance and grace..you're meeting your king after all! The problem with 'rules' is there are too many loopholes, where do you draw the line and how do you define types of clothing, length, etc? At the same time I think many Singhs need to re-evaluate what they dress like..I think we can do a bit better than track pants and a t-shirt..just a thought.. rolleyes.gif

I think its a two way problem and we tend to look at it only from one view point.

First problem lies with the person who dresses inappropriatly.

Second problem lies with the person who get these dodgy thoughts after seeing someone dressed other than traditional salwar kameez.

Both of these problems have one common cause, lack of respect for Guru ji. If you were in the presence of Guru ji, one would make sure they are not dressed badly and simmilarly one would concentrate on the Guru rather than someone's mini skirt.

I dont think jeans and shirts are wrong either for females or male. I mean men wear trousers why cant women?

Gurdwaras comeetees shouldnt set a strict dress code, they should have basic rules that are inforced strictly i.e heads should be covered, Dress should be modest, no mobiles etc

"We would reconsider our plans to visit gurdwaras if we are not allowed to wear jeans," said Meenal

what a <banned word filter activated>, i mean you dont visit gurdwara for anyone else but yourself :T:

this is not right.. ppl wear jeans to gw.. and they wont stop..

yes common sense is one thing.. u shud obviously not wear provocative clothes.. and i dont think this is wat the real problem is..

.. but imposing these restriction is another

suggesting is one thing.. but putting rules is another

i dont think this is the direction where we should go..

but i agree with the cell phone suggestion.. they shud just put up a sign asking people to do so
