"Liberals" act like you're crazy if you own one largely. "Conservatives" the opposite. So in this regard we're conservative. But in many other regards we're liberal and so I think a lot of Sikhs may be surrounded by liberal friends. And are trying to appear as non militant as possible. Which is a shame and conjecture hypothesis on my part.

I think you might be on to something there. It's fear driven.

If I had to pick a single gun to own it'd be scoped 30.06 with a bayonet. 

Shotguns are lovely and far more diverse than people think with round choices. 

For pistol 45 wins in my opinion. 

And never underestimate 22. It's a small hot round that biunces around inside a lot making it far more lethal than it's size suggests and they're quieter.

Legal or not you could make something like this and have it stored here and there and nobody would know what it was. 

No shells? You could literally make your own gun powder and make your own black powder version of this. Which actually would have the added benefit of making a ton of smoke to hide the action. Just have a tube or two packed with black powder and shot or whatever you put in the tube. Pack it with whatever. And in emergency, bloom, bloom. Now you have whatever they had.
